On one hand I want to make fun of people freaking out about early February injuries with no idea of the severity.

On the other hand, that's our 6th and 7th starters and we're one more away from having to slot Jordan Wicks into the current top 5, so maybe go and get one of those Padres guys, thanks

Don't love seeing this after day 1. On the plus side, it's Feb 10th so get these out of the way asap I guess.

Yeah Assad might not even impact his regular season by more than a few starts.  Similar to the Taillon leg injuries the past few years.

But this is what the depth is for.  Feb/March/April is always especially brutal.

Maybe this is what Peller is waiting on. Injuries in a rotation on a team who expects to win next year might make a team desperate Not sure Assad moves that needle for the Cubs.

Or they already knew about them and forgot to mention it.

Well in the presser Carter mentioned some guys were sore but nothing significant.  But i guess things change.

Odds are decent that Assad would have started in AAA anyways since he has options.  Birdsell is like 9th or 10th on the SP depth chart.  This is why you sign Rea.

I would really like to see Assad show up in shape this year.

This didn't age well.

This is a little different from the playoff odds that live on FG every day.  Dan Szymborski's system here actually does some accounting for depth, and it looks like that gave the Brewers a bit of a bump and accordingly knocked the Cubs down a peg.

No Japan series (at least no playing the field) but good to go for domestic opening day is really starting to sound like the appropriate place to set expectations.  Fingers crossed.

The Cubs were already good last year, defensively. They could be really good this year, and they’re projected as 2025’s best team defense.

That article referenced Nico saying he wants to play in the japan series and quoted him as saying we'll see. I'd agree that it is doubtful, but I wouldn't rule it out based on the article.
