Mets win.  Crazy to me that Diaz threw 40 pitches.  Will he be available for any of the first 2 games of their Wild Card series?  I'm sure do-or-die in Game 2 they'd pitch Diaz but not sure if he'll be at his best.

Also a shame for Lindor that Ohtani is having the season he's having.  That dong would absolutely have moved some MVP votes if it was a closer race.

Now that they're in, I doubt the Mets are going to put forth much of an effort vs. Sale.

Especially because winning gets them a series across the country against the Padres starting tomorrow night while losing gets the a series against the Brewers.  I think I'd rather play the Brewers, especially considering the 2000 less miles to travel tonight

Yes and I think they'd rather face the Peralta, Meyers, Rea or Chivale than Cease, King and Darvish.

Wow wow wow

This can’t be the Braves getting cute and trying to save Sale for tomorrow right?

EDIT: Hasn’t pitched since Sept 19 so probably not them getting cute.

I don't think they pitch Holmes yesterday if this wasn't real.

I'm listening to the Braves radio feed while at my son's soccer practice and these broadcasters are awful.  They are winning, yet it sounds like they are broadcasting a funeral.  Maybe Zaidman isn't so bad after all.  Ok, yes he is.

Huh, I guess the D-Backs should've not gone 3-6 against the Rockies, Giants, and a locked into 4th Padres team the last 2 weeks of the season.

First time since 2007 that the previous years World Series teams don't make the playoffs (2006 Cardinals-Tigers).

This is so deliriously stupid, we should do it this way every year

Expanded playoffs.   The WC2 and WC3 teams play a doubleheader the day after the season every year while the next best team sits at home.  If the WC2 or WC3 team sweeps the DH, the next best team gets WC3 and takes the spot of the team swept.

Theres like 99.5% of me who thinks thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard and 0.5% of me thinks its genius.

Imagine watching the Marlins and DBacks having to play a doubleheader the day after the season last year with us hoping that for some reason one of them swept the other so the Cubs could make the playoffs.

Add a 4th wild card and make 3rd and 4th play a double header where the winner advances on run differential if there's a split.  Peak entertainment and more advantage for the 3rd division winner.

In case you were wondering, Hector Neris still walking damn near everything lefty he sees

And then strikes out the next 2 to get out of the inning.

I really hope the Tigers steamroll these guys.

I'm very surprised at how little chance the Tigers were being given.  Like the Astros are obviously a better team, but in a short series having the best pitcher in baseball is a really really big deal.

It's kind of nuts that against the Braves right now 3 runs in the fourth inning feels like an insurmountable lead, while last year being up by three runs against them in the fourth inning still felt 60/40 like you were going to lose.
