Dusty has +10 charisma in person. I can see why people/players rave about him.

I wish he could find a rod of +2 intelligence.

LOL!

What's sad is I got that reference.

You're not the only one, but I have no shame...... 8-[

I've found it pretty funny that the Brilliant Bobby Cox just pulled his closer and brought in Remlinger to face a lefty in Nick Johnson pulling the proverbial "Dusty Bakerism" and misusing Remlinger based on his splits - but he got away with it.

Vance was bewitched.

I should have asked Dusty if he'd agree to a Q&A, huh?

That would set a new record for "veiled criticism" questions...

I can't begin to imagine how editing the questions to be ready for Q&A would be. Tim or whoever does it would probably wind up hating themselves whichever way they went

Can I just say that this was incredible? And yes...I got it too. And part of me is with XZero - I should have no shame. But then . . . I do, whether I want to or not.

Like tightly rolled pantlegs, mullets and hair bands, D&D is far enough in my past that it is more amusing than shameful anymore.

anytime dusty wants to stop starting neifi perez would be just great

There is no concievable reason Neifi should start versus a LHP.

None whatsoever.

what's really unfortunate is (and I don't know if stats back me up, but..) I feel more confident when Neifi is batting righthanded. He seems to be less of a slappy hitter and more patient.

He hits for more power as a RHB, but has a higher average as a LHB. His OPS's over the last 3 years are both abysmal, .639 as a LHB, and .696 as a RHB. The difference is all slugging pct., as his AVG and OBP are both lower as a RHB.

you guys dont look/get stat sheets?

The Neifury vs Vargas....3 for 3 lifetime going into the game (and the only hit through 6)....pwn.

Good job Dusty.

This thread needs to be resurrected.

Another absolutey horrible job by Dumbsty.

Horrific line-up aside, let's see...

Sacrifice bunting instead of stealing Pierre over to 2nd with Piazza behind the plate (basically automatic). What good is speed when you don't utilize it? Probably cost the Cubs an all-important insurance run.

Not pinch hitting for Neifi or Blanco with a runner on 3rd (when he has Murton and Barrett sitting on the bench). Probably cost the Cubs an all-important insurance run.

Dempster comes in with a 2 run lead and surrenders a 3 run homer. Gee, some insurance runs sure would have been nice.

Cubs lose.

Anybody who is on the fence as to whether Dusty needs to be fired (and I agree that he is not the only problem) would do well to read this thread. Firing Dusty will not solve this teams problems, but it sure is a start in the right direction (...and sack the coaching staff too.).

Not only was Piazza catching, but a 6'10" right-hander(Chris Young) was pitching. It is difficult to imagine a better time to steal a base.

You guys feel bad, I'm the one who made the joke- makes me the ultimate dork. In my own defense, I never played D&D much, only one unfortunate experience with some fringe friends.

NE Ways, basically everything he's done in the last week has infuriated me, including flipping around the batting order and then flipping it back unnecessarily, and the misuse of the bunt.

I agree with everything you mentioned. Before today, I believed that Dusty bashing was premature. Well now is a different story. This team is not talented enough to withstand his mismanaging. It is time to pull the plug on Dusty and bring in Lou Piniella.

I'm not excited about Piniella either though. I keep hearing the talk shows mention him, and I cringe. I hope that doesn't happen.

Who would you prefer? Piniella is the only name I can think of? Maybe Brenly? Is Riggleman unemployed?

Speier would be an interesting choice. He'd work as an interim guy. If he sucks, oh well, he can go out the door after the season is over.

Good call. Speier would be a good choice. Anything but Dusty.
