Just caught Jed Hoyer's pregame comments on the radio and he's doubling down on Counsell's 90 win comments, so that's nice to hear. 

Paraphrasing a bit here, but Hoyer said something to the effect of, "If you win 90 games as a 90th percentile outcome, that's not building a 90 win team. We need to get to a place where 90 wins is the 50th percentile outcome and we don't need everything to go just right to get to 90 wins."

He's saying all the right things. Now let's see him make it happen.

Nico Hoerner's a decent weekend from ending the season over 4 WAR.  I really cannot see a situation where he gets traded this winter.

I would be much more inclined to trade Paredes, if he has any value whatsoever.

A 3 fWAR third baseman with three years of team control? Yes, he has value. 
 

I’m open to trading him, by the way. But ‘if he has any value whatsoever’ is very over the top.

The chances are probably pretty damn close to zero. They just upgraded 3B with probably the best option on the table. If their goal is to make a baseline 90 wins team, you don't turn around and trade him and end up in the exact same position you started with in 2023 and 2024.

He's batting 1.000 in his last 1 at bats though so actually I'm pretty sure he's our best player.
