Still surprised the Nationals are going to get to the end of Corbin's contract without making him a reliever.  It really feels like that would have been a way to salvage things in the back half of the deal.  With that slider and sitting more 93 than 91 it feels like he would have had a chance in a setup role a la Will Smith?

Jeez.

This is the type of player Jed does not want on the Cubs

Just think that with 9 regular season games and a whole host of postseason games remaining for the Dodgers, Shohei might just finish with a 60-60 campaign.

Drew Smyly blowing a game? Unheard of!

I feel like Counsell keeps bringing in Smyly to blow games to send a message to Jed about how effective it is to get cute when trying to build a bullpen

He could be the odd man out if Bellinger returns.

That's an odd way of thinking about one of, if not THE, best hitters in the lineup.  There's nothing wrong with having Seiya as the most of the time DH, filling in occasionally in RF.

I love taking shots at poorly performing players, but Suzuki is easily the Cubs best hitter and is in a very hot streak with some great hard hit numbers. Don’t understand the hate on him

It either Suzuki or Happ that going to be moved if Bellinger returns and....

A. They plan on bringing in a plus bat

B. If Caissie is expected to join them next season

Unless of course Hoyer just returns everyone and hopes for the best again.

We talk about how they need to add a plus bat or two to the lineup but balk at moving guys to make room for them.

Well Suzuki and Happ are both better hitters than bellinger, so I’m not sure why he automatically gets a spot

I gotta ask an honest question; what the hell is it with this team?  Two years in a row they are almost God mode in the summer and then in September they fade out faster than a cheesy B movie ending.  Tell me because I do not get it.
