As one of the staunchest Sisco supporters, I'm actually happy for him that he got his big league debut. All in all, probably not a horrible outing considering it is his ML debut, he is, by all accounts, ahead of schedule, and its opening day.

Good for Sisco.

Not only are we going to get him back, but we'll also be getting 125K or whatever, an extra year without having to put him on the 40 man, and he'll have major league experience. AND HIS FAT A WILL BE IN SHAPE.

He didn't throw that badly. 93-94 most of the time, a couple 95 and 96.

I was just going to say that. Mostly 93-94. I saw 95 twice and 96 once. Don't think I saw anything besides fastballs.

I hope he dominates and wins a Cy Young some day. Just because Hendry made a moronic move doesn't mean you can't wish good things for him....unless you are a Hendry fan and don't want to see him embarrased.

Me too...as a Cub.

I'm not really too concerned with the possibility he could be returned to the Cubs. If they wouldn't protect him in the Rule 5 draft, I really don't think he would have much of a future with us even if was returned after a lashing in the major leagues. I've accepted the fact that he's gone. It's the Royals, and I actually think Sisco will pitch pretty decent this year. He's gone.

They didn't protect hime because they didn't think he was ready to pitch in the big leagues. They didn't think that if he was selected in the Rule V Draft, he would stick on the 25 man all year. So, obviously, they kind of expect him to get shelled in the major leagues.

I wonder if KC won't try to use him a lot early to figure out if he is worth stashing on the roster. Certainly, allowing him to pitch on opening day isn't a move you'd normally make with a guy you don't expect much contribution from. Either they really believe in him now, or want to cut their losses sooner rather than later.

That seems about right JC.

Glad he messed up! Like Raw said, even if he fails he's still way ahead. I don't think, cuz of this fact, he can fail and regress too easily. Even if he tanks and is returned he still has a ton of positives to feel good about.

And hopefully he will feed of those positives and not the negatives if he goes to West Tenn.

25 pitches, 11 for strikes.

Not the best of outings.

You can say that again!

I think the fact that he showed the mid-90's velocity that was reported to be gone not too long ago was a great sign for him though.

It's not his lack of velocity that will get him in trouble. It will be his lack of control, composure, and knowledge of how to pitch. While I think Buck is a good catching talent, Sisco would benefit from a veteran catcher which he won't have either.

So far Sisco has pitched 2.1 scoreless innings agianst the Angels. No hits allowed.

He looked very good. Considering he was brought into a game with the Royals already trailing 7-1, it appears they are going to ease him in with mop up duty.

I'm pretty sure at this point he's as good as gone.

Awesome, 2 appearences and he's gone! Because no rookie, especially one who's skipping 3 levels, has ever had any tough times his rookie year.

The Royals are very high on him and have the space to keep him.

I wouldn't be so sure. There's 157 games to go and he has to stay on the roster for all of them. While he looked good tonight, he may not the next time he's used.

I think he's most likely gone, and I didn't use to think that way. He's shown he has the ability to pitch at the major league level, whether he's done so in the past or whether he consistantly does so in the future, he won't be a complete waste of roster space and that's probably enough for a team like the Royals.

the real test may be when he faces teams and hitters for the second time. a lot of rookies have success based on unfamilarity. remember jeff pico?

Yeah, but they don't give a crap if he pitches effectively for them because their team sucks. Derrick Turnbow sucked as a Rule V pick. Miguel Asencio was bad for the Royals in '02 but they didn't care because they thought he had potential. Johan Santana winning the Cy Young gives even more incentive for crappy teams to hang onto high-ceiling players for their Rule V year.

I said it when the draft went down, Sisco would be gone. Thank God we have Rohlicek and Randolph, though.
