I'll say while he was dealt a bad roster, but if you actually go up and down the roster, especially pre-deadline, it looks like a pretty generic 100 loss team.

Like the Sox being bad is an upstairs problem, being 14 games behind the horsefeathering Rockies feels like it's fair to pin a good chunk on the manager.

I don’t see how a manager can be blamed for an awful team being awful. But managers don’t really matter and there’s no way this guy could stay on board. The next guy will have a Luke Richardson level of expectations

Why now? Why not 2 months ago?  I mean fine they get a headstart on looing for a replacement but seems like strange timing when there were plenty of opportunities to fire him all season.  You couldn't just recently have come to the decision that he's not the guy could you have?

My only guess is that they were planning on wait until the end of the season, but since they are so bad they are now threatening to break all time records for futility, they have decided to see if an interim manager can provide some sort of spark to spare them the embarrassment of losing 120 games

I used to hate him but he's grown up a lot and would probably actually do a pretty solid job.  I mean, nothing is going to extinguish that dumpster fire until Jerry and TLR are out of the picture, but you could do a lot worse than AJ.
