It's not as glaring as some of the other needs, but seeing matchups like this really drives home how much this roster could use a lefty masher.  All of the lefties on the roster except PCA hold their own well so it doesn't register as a major weakness, but I think it does limit the ability to optimize matchups.

I think the ideal fit in the roster would be a Kevin Pillar/Reed Johnson type who can cover CF.  But I increasingly want the lefty mashing ability over the CF coverage.  Teoscar Hernandez for instance.

Just give me a top 7 pick Cubs.

Yep sadly it has gotten to that point.

Don't worry though, they will start mashing in September and try to blow that too.

I have this bizarre feeling that the team is about to go on a run, to the point where most of us get excited at the possibility of the Cubs making the 3rd WC spot, only for them to fall short by a game or two.

Buster Olney said in his ESPN+ column today that Hector Neris could be a prime candidate to go on waivers in August as a salary dump, noting several teams employed that measure last season.

Don't care where he goes as long as it's not on the 2025 Cub roster.

This was the game I just assumed the Cubs would lose before the series started so I was really banking on winning the first two games. Yeah, not so much.

Lodolo has first inning problems. The Cubs go down in eleven pitches.

Sharma made a good point on foul territory about how if they finish close to .500 or above it, ownership is more likely to sign off on more spending/bigger contract's. That makes sense to me but i dont think hoyer would go after Soto even if he was green lighted to spend big so idk what to root for. Probably best for them to get a better pick.

Jed was on WSCR this afternoon. They straight up asked Jed about Soto. Jed said that the rules prevent him from discussing players from other teams.

Well that interview makes it seem like he would possibly go for it.

Secretly the best team in baseball that can win a game on demand when facing a sweep. They just protest the rest of the series.
