Interesting choice for a team whose biggest issues are whether or not to extend their own soon-to-be free agents. That decision making was what led to the downfall of the Blackhawks that were largely built by Bowman’s former boss. He was a terrible salary cap manager that had to let quality young players leave in order to get rid of over paid vets because other overpaid vets couldn’t be moved.

I'm glad Bowman apparently got help on being a better human.

But I'm pretty sure he still mediocre at being a GM.

Parking is totally fine at the UC compared to Wrigley and especially Soldier Field.

Oh and horsefeathers Stan Bowman. What's next Q getting another head coaching job?

That is great and all, but the best part of United Center is the ease of parking.  Sure, the parking lots are run down and somewhat unsightly, but very functional.

I assume there will be a lot of garage parking to replace the loss of surface parking. But if they also invest in transit, it could be even better.

As someone that moved away 3+ decades ago I made my first trip to the UC 2 years ago for a concert. I was extremely impressed with the ride share situation there. Sure surge pricing sucks but most stadiums I’ve been to don’t have anything organized and if they do they are nowhere close to the stadium where here it’s literally a block away. Covered, air conditioned waiting area with charging stations & seating areas with port-a-potties right outside.

Yea, good ride share design should also be critical to any new stadium development. You're not gonna replace 100% of car traffic with public transit, but if you can replace parking that just takes up space for 5 hours and isnt productive any other time you really help maximize the daily and year round use.

We went to a concert in Columbus last weekend and the parking/rideshare situation was very organized, but the post-show rideshare pickup location was across a large bridge and nearly a mile from where we exited the stadium.  We gave up and paid way too much to a random taxi driver with no meter running.

I had the same thought when I heard the news. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Stan also touted as the "capologist" that was going to balance the team's cap issues when he was promoted?

Stan is off to a running start in Edmonton allowing the Blues to poach both Broberg and Holloway.

hawks should get in on this

Really disappointed the Hawks didn't get this done. They have ample resources and it was a position of need.

Backup goaltender Laurent Brossoit had meniscus surgery and will miss approximately 5-7 weeks.

the athletic is out with their nhl pipeline rankings. The Blackhawks rank #1, with 17 guys 22 and under who are expected to at least play in NHL games.  The #5 sabres have 8 guys and #9 Devils have 7.

Bedard still tops the list but the meat of it is guys expected to fill middle 6 and bottom 6 roles. Defense is fairly well taken care of, as long as Arty L makes it. But the glaring need is for more high end scoring talent. It’s almost a given that Davidson is going to have to acquire somebody else’s too expensive forward, either via trade or free agency.

Bedard being on the list is misleading. If there's zero chance of a demotion they should be considered graduated prospects. Nazar, Moore, Boisvert, and Levshunov should all be quality NHL players soon. I have a lot of faith in Rinzel, too.

Player eligibility: All skaters who are 22 years old or younger as of Sept. 15, 2024, regardless of how many NHL games they’ve played, are eligible. Player heights and weights are taken from the NHL.

A bunch of proven NHL guys on other teams also count. It’s not misleading

I only read the Hawks list but the same should hold true of other teams. Celebrini is still currently a prospect. If he plays 80 games in the NHL this year he becomes an established part of the Sharks and a roster lock for 2025-26. Only my opinion but I no longer consider those guys prospects. They are proven commodities. A prospect is regarded as someone "likely" to succeed. Bedard has already proven he's a top 50 player in the league. He'll still make progress in his game and end up a top 10 maybe top 5 player soon but we know what he is.

It isn't a prospect ranking. It is a ranking of young talent controlled by the team. The idea is to estimate the future of the organization. Bedard is an established star, but he's not yet a finished product. He is also likely to be a Blackhawk player that is pre-prime or prime for a long time. So he contributes to that future as much or more than Nazar or others still yet to reach the NHL.

Fair point. I still don't like the age cut off though. Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but the difference in age between Crevier and Phillips is about 3 months. One made the list and the other didn't.
