If you do it right, there isn’t much of an off-season in hockey. The best teams play into June. The ****** teams are done in April, but the better players wind up skating in world championships. This year that includes Seth Jones and Alex Vlasic joining Luke Hughes on the blue line. Could be a good experience in Czechia.

Davidson made it clear they want to be done with the bottom of the barrel results from the last two years. They have cap space and multiple picks this off-season. They will probably bring in a top 6 forward type, and a top 4 defensemen.

I know that it takes more than one year to rebuild, but last year's top 3 in the draft (CHI, ANA, CBJ) are right back there again (with only SJ worse)

Looking forward to a good lotto fixing again.  Is there a consensus number 1?

Macklin Celebrini from Boston University.

Good start to the offseason.  6 years $27.6m

Seems like a good compromise between the potential short term lower hit options and the 8 year higher hit options. Still some flexibility down the road. But thinking way into the future he’ll be in line to take Jones’s cap hit when that comes off the books.

To elaborate, if they get him they have their clear cut 1 and 2 centers for the foreseeable future. All their other centers would slot behind these guys and/or move to wing.

odds are though they will not get him and the next batch of guys are mostly defenseman. The hawks have D depth but could absolutely use impact guys that would immediately go to head of the class. Vlasic is a top pairing guy, Korchinski might be a second pairing guy. All their other depth is either 2nd or 3rd pairing guys. If they wound up with the top Dman in this draft and found a top pairing player, they could be set up really nicely for when Jones is garbage and still making bank.

Oh, it'll be rigged. Best you believe. NHL doesn't Bedard on a last place team

Blackhawks had the highest odds of having the 4th pick, but they have made it to the top 3.  Final 3 is revealed after a commercial break

Damn.... finished with number 2 overall.  Everything went exactly by the book.

I'll take it but getting number 1 would have really put the rebuild into hyperdrive.

Is this Ivan Demidov guy like the Russian dude from last year who won't come over for a few years?

Edit: Just googled it, hes under contract with the KHL for 1 more season, so the earliest we could see him in Chicago if we take him is 2025-2026 season.

Wouldn't hate taking a blue liner like Levshunov who is projected to go 3rd.

The moment during the season in which the Hawks clinched no worse than drafting 4th, I had no problems with any scenario. Would love to had 1/1 just to see the meltdown but getting the #2 pick is excellent.

Someone is not doing their job well if they're not good soon.
