They'll be absolutely miserable to attend, but IMO as of right now looks like they'll get both today and tomorrow's games in.

Why would they schedule games at Wrigley on April 2 and 3 as night games?  Is the Cubs brass that  stupid???  Are they trying to just straight up murder Cubs players and fans via pneumonia?

There is no reason for these to be night games.  The weather is bad enough during the day in early April.

Tomorrow the weather says it's going to feel like below freezing temps with spitting rain at game time bahaha.  Attendance:  zero

Both the Cubs and Sox had day games scheduled at home at the same time yesterday and night games today. MLB is so damn stupid.

This might be overly cynical, but given that they were probably expecting low attendance for these games either way, they opted for a night game to maximize the after work crowd in all the (heated) suites, all inclusive areas, etc...ie, the most expensive seats in the building.

Don't the Cubs have control here ultimately?  I mean they can roughly dictate the # of day games at Wrigley right? Why would the league or schedule makers care if it's a night or day game?

Maybe they figure nobody is showing up on Tues and Wed in April either way and prefer the most tv ratings?

Old complaint but big shout-out to the Ricketts for slapping ugly ads all along the brick backstop behind home plate and not putting it back into payroll.  I can forgive it if it's helping this team win but wtf

Last year it was jarring at first, but then I learned to tune it out.

I'm wondering if this particular game was listed as a night game so they could do a day/night DH if yesterday's game was rained out since there was not the traditional off day after the home opener.  The Cubs charge a premium for Opening Day tickets so they've been good about trying to ensure that the Opening Day ticketholders attend the opening game.  Not sure why Wednesday's is also a night game.

Can confirm, the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky, better identified as "central" Kentucky has had many things cancelled this afternoon due to the weather.

I once read that Chicago isn't actually more windy than the average city, so the "windy city" thing is a myth.   Is this true?

I think it's probably more windy by the lake and when it's cold it's a misery multiplier.

From Tom Skilling, WGN weather guy:

"It can get windy in Chicago, but the nickname was placed on the city by the New York City press in the late 1880s in reference to our politicians, not to our climate. You are correct to observe that Boston has higher average winds that Chicago."

I had the same problem about 30 years or more when tv networks had their call letters branded on the corners of my tv screen. LOL
