I am happy the Cubs did something and from what I've read I like Imanaga but funny that we went after another starter with a 91-92 mph fastball.  But hey he's got electric stuff from what I see, good stuff.

Yeah, the team really could use some velocity in the rotation. That said, he does add swing and miss, so at least it adds something a bit different.

Interested to see if this board still complains about Jed.

One move doesn't change anything. Now if it's a prelude to like Bellinger, Brasier and Hoskins then kudos to Jed.

Before the terms get confirmed, what are we thinking? 5 years $110 mil? More? Can't imagine it's less.

There was some thought that the rush of teams saying they weren't going to get him was a sign he wasn't going to get the 9 figure deal he wanted.  I'll say with the posting fee he cracks $100M but not without.

This basically replaces Stroman and while I think he'll be solid he has no MLB track record so you never know how his stuff will play in the majors.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on this move, I like it. Just think the Cubs have a lot more to do this offseason.  Happy Jed broke the seal finally

I'm most glad about this because rotation options were getting perilously thin.  This winter a GM can sign two decent 1B/DH types blindfolded, so if Jed wants to wait until President's Day or whatever to do the rest of his shopping everything should still be fine.

(Please Jed for our collective sanity do not wait that long to make your next move)

Justin Steele doesn’t have a burner fastball but still dominant, they see something they love with this guy can’t wait to see it

Similarly, both guys have really funky fastballs. The ride he showed at the WBC, would be the most ride of any fastball in baseball.

Bout time Jed!  Now let’s see what the financials are.

It took weeks for PTR to scrounge up enough change from the couch cushions

this is the best Cubs rotation I’ve seen in my life, and as soon as Hendricks leaves after this year they can insert the best pitching prospect in baseball in his place

What a time to be a Cubs fan

I think most if not all of us remember 2004: Prior, Wood, Zambrano, Maddux, Clement.

That was the best rotation in my life. At least on paper.

Solid first move, still a ways to go for the team to even get back to the level they were last year. Replacing Stroman and Bellinger just gets them back at being a fringe playoff team. Still need bullpen and 3B and 1B
