We can work ourselves into a pretzel to create a scenario where these guys aren't elite QB prospects, but we have every reason to believe they are widely seen as such and imaging Poles might go against the grain, why?

Anyways it seems far more likely that the "fan appeasing" move is keeping Justin and not moving on.  That's the decision we should give a ton more scrutiny to

(random series of Twitter polls I came across)

Are those all recent?  I'm having difficulty with the Fields one the most.  Maybe I'm just way out of step on that.  Quite possible.  Turnovers make my skin crawl.  I've got to acknowledge the positive things he's done too.

I truly hope that Poles and co are completely ignoring whatever the media and fans are saying because it shouldn't factor into his decision making one iota. Make the right decision to build the best long-term successful football team you can. Ignore everything else.

And I think there's a real argument that even if you have a somewhat dim view of Fields (though not Kyle level negative), that you may end up with a better football team if you stick with Fields for the next two years and use the 1st overall to trade down, gather up more picks, and pick up more studs. I have to admit I find it rather tempting myself. Depends on what you can get for that 1st pick but if I can get 2 more 1st rounders and a 2nd and whoever knows what else, you can end up coming home with MHJr., a stud Olineman, and a stud at any position you like.

A rookie QB on the other hand would be coming in with less talent but in a significantly better situation than Fields did in 2021-2022. You have an Oline that is at least serviceable and with 2 very good young pieces, a phenomenal receiver, and a strong tight end. The coaching though...well that remains to be seen. Getsy i think has to go at bare minimum - who else do you find?

Those polls pretty much reflect my expectations. Eberflus and Getsy are gone, Pokes will stay and Fields will stay not necessarily on merit but more so because I think Poles would absolutely love to trade #1 again and acquire more picks.

Of the three of them. I think Fields is least likely to stay. I think Poles and Eberflus gets another crack at a QB and OC, especially if the defense continues to improve.

I can't envision a scenario under which Eberflus remains, barring ending with 7+ wins

If they win two more, and one of those is Green Bay, with a defense playing well while the offense sputters, I could easily see them justify in their heads the return of Eberflus. That’s double the win total from last year and beating the preseason predictions of 5.5, while stabilizing his side of the ball.

They won’t blame a defensive head coach for the failure of a qb, and I think they’ll be happy to pull a Kyle and blame everything on fields.

i hope i'm right and not deluding myself but i don't see a situation where flus stays and fields goes

if you draft a QB and get rid of fields, you dangle the opportunity to one of the young OC candidates out there to have complete control of the offense and the ability to work with a rookie qb from the ground up

Yep, a series of polls from today. Now depending on that guy and his takes its possible his follower sample is skewed, but still.

The only thing that tells me Eberflus is on the hot seat is he hasn’t hired a replacement DC yet. Maybe he wasn’t allowed to, or maybe guys turned him down. Either of those are telling. Now, the alternative is he wanted to turn things around himself and make himself irreplaceable.

To summarize for me:

Fields - has to go if we have a top 2 pick. Or if we can find a decent veteran. Might very reluctantly keep it everything fizzles but that would be a bad thing.

Getsy - it's a coordinator wtf cares, fire him into the sun or don't, QB play will matter way more.

Eberflus - would be pretty disappointed if we kept him

Poles - wouldn't hate to see him gone because I feel like he's building a dumb Bear Football team instead of a modern actually good NFL team, but I'll reluctantly admit there's a chance the job he is doing is well-regarded in a year or two

The issue is not their view on the sport. The issue is their ability to hire and retain the correct executives.
