For the record, I think Fields played really really well, and if he plays at this caliber for the rest of the season you have to give serious thought to keeping him as your starter.

My bad. Justin Fields did everything and it's *definitely* never his fault.

your inference that this a thing that is happening in reality is because your brain is terribly broken

If it’s possible to make this worse, the Bears lost even with a 98.8% chance to win with 3:59 remaining up 26-14.

This loss is 95% on the vaunted defense not even being able to force the Lions to take 3 minutes to score 2 touchdowns and on horrific time management by Eberflus. It’s 5% on the offensive line collapsing at in opportune times, especially in the run game.

I thought he played ... what's the right adjective here. OK, bordering on good, but not great.

Until the end, he avoided mistakes.  He created a touchdown out of nowhere on that one pass.  Emphasis on one.

The problem is that this sort of designed run playcalling 1) will lead to him getting hurt again 2) doesn't work in must-score situations.

And here comes the straw man, the only figure Kyle can actually successfully out-logic.

Go do something else for a while, Kyle, your antagonistic bit is getting old and tired.

Just returning your energy.  Sarcasticially oversimplifying is apparently how you communicate, so I thought it would help get the point across.

On the plus side, they're now in position to take MHJ and Fashanu or Williams/Maye and Fashanu

It was an intentional strawman *responding to a strawman*.  To demonstrate the problem with strawmen.

You'd know that if you weren't mad and looking to take it out on me.  Block button is somewhere in the new software. But you won't use it

That's how I know you know I'm right. Because you're resorting to stuff like that because handling your emotions like an adult is hard.

If you think what you're doing with this tired bit is handling your emotions like an adult, you need more serious help than normal.

Yes Kyle, it's everyone else being irrational and just you being the rational one,

Oh, you are on ignore 99% of the time because you have little to contribute to actual discussion, but occasionally I get extra tired of your schtick and feel the need to call you out on your obvious nonsense.

I think I've done it enough for today, though, feel free to pat yourself on the back again for torpedoing the discussion.

They won't, because you have to assure yourself of the QB you want... but if the Bears end up at 1 and 3, they should pick MHJr and then whatever QB falls to 3.

ignore the ranting at the end but that’s crazy. And in addition to the 4 turnovers, the bears dropped 2 additional interceptions. I’d be dumbfounded if it was any team but the Bears.

The rant isn't wrong.

at the risk of sounding like a fields stan, i thought there were a couple of scrambles where a lion piled on late that should've been called unnecessary roughness

Definitely.  I was surprised he didn't get a single on of those calls.

My primary concern on the night they drafted Fields is the same concern I have today.

I loved the pick, but I was concerned the Bears had the right QB but the wrong staff in place to take advantage.

And it still feels true 3 years and one staff later.

Fields has been good to very good in 3 of his last 4 games. The last handful of games is going to be the decision maker.

Last 4 games RTG

Detroit 105.2

Minnesota 36.7

Washington 125.3

Denver 132.7

play the string out, fields puts in whatever performance he does and you hire the best young offensive mind and the front office doesn't say a horsefeathers word about what they think of fields moving forward and let the new coach make the call without a bunch of takes poisoning the well

worst thing would be is he maybe plays well for a couple games, gets hurt again, and the new hire makes a 60/40 call on incomplete information

I would say if he plays like he did for 3.5 quarters today for the rest of the season, and stays healthy, I'd be more willing to accept a fourth year if somehow we didn't get Williams or Maye.  I wouldn't love it but he might be the best of the bad options.

You were? He’s never gotten those calls so I didn’t expect them today even though there should have been at least 2 thrown if not more.
