Dodgers are the perfect example of how difficult it is to win the World Series . They have been to the playoffs for what 12 straight years now ? Amazing that they only have 1 ring to show for it . In Danger of getting eliminated early again .

And it was a fake COVID-year ring

And then you have the Cubs coming along after not making a postseason in 7 years, making the NLCS in 2015 and then the World Series the following year. Astros, Dodgers and Braves needed years to climb the mountain. The Cubs just jumped the queue and did it lol.

Yup. Their problem is burning out after 162. No wonder they became World Series Champions* after a 60 game regular season

The Astros rebuild started around the same time as the Cubs, won a WS a year after the Cubs, another last year, plus two more appearances.  Now they are about to play in their 7th straight ALCS. Meanwhile the Cubs flamed out in 2018.

As strange as it sounds does Arizona have a better shot against Atlanta than Philadelphia?

However, Braves pitching is a mess, Cubs jumped on them and probably should have taken 2 of 3.  Just don't see them getting past the Phillies.

Unfortunately, yes. Happy with the trophy but can only hope that the next window stays open for much longer.

Remember when Harper was basically begging to play in Chicago and the Cubs more or less said no thanks? Good times.

No, I don’t remember this. When was Harper begging to play for the Cubs? His agent may have been begging the Cubs to get in the bidding for Harper. But I never had this idea Harper wanted to play for the Cubs any more than any other team. He was always going to take a deal from whatever team have him the best deal, period.

Does anyone think that Arizona stands a chance against Either Philly or Atlanta?

Sure they do. It’s baseball. Anything can happen. I wouldn’t say they have a great chance. But I would put them at about a 40% chance of winning the series. Wish the Cubs weee there and I would be happy with a 40% chance.

Only sport I know where a team loses a postseason series and then just sit there in the dugout watching the other teams celebrations. Get out of there and into the locker rooms.

Or go congratulate them. Love the hockey tradition

Yet another round where not a single series goes the distance, and now another 2 day gap without any games. These playoffs have really sucked.

At least there were some enjoyable games this round and of course plenty of upsets which are more fun for the casual fan.

I still don’t like this WC round format and would like them to go back to 4 teams per league though I’ll accept the 5 team format

I think Philly will win, but Gallen and Kelly is a pretty damn good 1-2.  If those two can start 4 of the 7 games, Arizona has a chance.

I agree. I don't really like a division winner having to play in the Wild Card round, but I don't think we're ever going back. Leagues never decrease the number of playoff teams. It only goes up.

I thought I would like the 3 game series as opposed to the one-and-done, but after seeing the new format in action I think we have lost a lot of excitement from the one-and-done but also from the regular season tiebreaker scenarios.
