There 3 positions he can fill.. 1B 3B CF, unless he moves someone else.

Unlikely he brings in a long term CFer with PCA and other OFers in system,  there a very good chance he makes Candelario an offer to return,  especially considering they don't really have strong options there.

Yes, it likely they look outside for a 1Bmen but other then that, as far as starters goes, I don't see anything else really happening unless he trades Happ, or Suzuki

My guess would be Hoyer would value Chapman ahead of Candelario.

He's building this team on run prevention. Hes looking for good defenders and pitching.

This is actually kind of hilarious

I’d describe it as fitting.

why do you keep bringing up candelario? he will not factor into the decision of whether or not they will go for a big bat or two

there are a million ways they could add offense to the lineup if Bellinger leaves, especially with the dh. there is no reason to think Jed will lose Bellinger and then do nothing.

I was just saying, there is a chance he does return. He can play both CI and DH, and if he wants to return, I think both sides will come to an agreement easily.

Candy played on a one year deal. He’s going to be looking for his last big contract. Not saying they won’t try to sign him, but he’s not a good fit given their needs.

Sure, but it doesnt seem all that likely. If they played him at 3B I could see it, but they immediately put him at 1B upon arrival. If it wasn't for injuries he probably wouldnt have played an inning at 3B for the Cubs.

I would expect Hoyer to be pushing hard for Chapman who's one of the better defenders at 3B in the game with a bat that profiles for the position. He's also 30 and not a premier player so the chances he lands a crazy deal that would place him outside of Hoyer's comfort zone seems unlikely. And for 1B he should probably sit back down with the Mets for Alonso.

We're talking about Hoyer and the Cubs here.

Candelario not gonna get offered a big contract from anyone, he'll at most get a 3 yr deal. I'm not hoping he returns,  again just saying I wouldn't bet against it.

Obviously I’m rooting for the Marlins to have to fly to NYC on Monday to finish us off, however unlikely it is, but I guess a good outcome of being eliminated tonight is we can let PCA start and play a full game tomorrow without pressure of taking key meaningful ABs

Cubs fail to get a runner from 3rd home with 1 out, drink

the person who failed was Dansby, finish your beer

but it wasn’t a strikeout so umm…take a hit of your joint?

We get the Braves and Brewers to finish the season and the Marlins get the crappy Mets and Pirates. Lol

Cubs had the easiest strength of schedule leading up to the Braves and got their asses handed to them.

Yes, the Cubs proved that it didn’t matter who they faced. They were going to collapse no matter what.

Canario swings a bat. Who knew. Shame hes only seen 11 PAs since being promoted to swing that bat in the majors.

Cubs pretty much did theirselves in obviously.

That stretch of games where we were facing pitchers with a 5+ ERA every night and couldn’t score was disappointing on a level that is difficult to convey.

Canario was called up to start September and was on the team all except for 2 days and is hitting .364. Clearly he led the Cubs to the playoffs right?

Small sample size but I think mostly everyone except Ross was screaming to give Canario ABs.
