enjoy Belli while you can?

Didn't realize Hoyer shares his plans with Kap and already made his decision,  especially since PCA hasn't shown much up here and will likely start the season in Iowa

My post is not pessimistic in the least. It’s reality. It’s public pronouncements from Tommy boy and his boy Jed

I didn’t call them misers. But they aren’t spending money to go over the luxury tax for multiple years. So we can forget about $40M/yAAV contracts for anyone without sacrificing to a great extent on other talent.

So, if they dont bring Bellinger back or spend big money, is this pretty much what we're gonna see next season as far as position players goes, I gotta feeling theyll bring Candelario back.

Gomes, Amaya

Mervis

Hoerner

Swanson

Candelario

Happ

PCA

Suzuki

They need to find a 1st baseman and a 3rd baseman. Maybe a CF. They need left handed power. The need a SP a closer (maybe), and a LH Reliever or two.

They have some money, but not a lot of Stroman stays. The FA market is thin. They may be spending prospects.

I know what they need, it's just a matter of will they look outside to get it via trades or FA, or stay in house as far as position players goes.

This is somehow making me even more angry than all the close losses

Lauer is only pitching because the Brewers want to save their real arms. He was injured early in the season and has been in AAA because he couldn’t make it back.

Outside of Mervis,  there is a chance they bring Candelario back and start PCA..

I personally think PCA will start in Iowa

jed isn't braindead. if the cubs lose their best hitter, he's going to find at least one good bat

He did bring Wisdom back, so it not crazy to think he won't try to bring Candelario back.

What out there for 1B that a FA

If he brings candelario back, he's not going to be counting on that as some significant offensive move. and bats don't have to come from free agency.

There 3 positions he can fill.. 1B 3B CF, unless he moves someone else.

Unlikely he brings in a long term CFer with PCA and other OFers in system,  there a very good chance he makes Candelario an offer to return,  especially considering they don't really have strong options there.

Yes, it likely they look outside for a 1Bmen but other then that, as far as starters goes, I don't see anything else really happening unless he trades Happ, or Suzuki
