Last night was a wild one. I thought the Cubs were going to win going away but somehow the game ended in extras. The Cubs aren't winning prettily but they're winning.

Well after the first 2 batters he induced weak contact though walked 1.

When/why did Kyle go away from throwing the curveball?  A 2 pitch pitcher with one of those pitches being a mid 80's fastball wouldn't seem to be a great recipe for success.  He has still been getting by pretty well, but was his curve really that bad to take it out of his repertoire almost completely?

The real question is why did he ever go the heavy 4 seam route and eschew ground balls. 

 

I think his cb was just for the element of surprise and it stopped surprising people.

I know we scored 2 in the 10th, but kind of feel like Dansby was pitched around with Happ on deck.

Morel benched again because he's been terrible.  He hasn't changed one bit from last year.  Both seasons he started off hot, but up big numbers, then pitchers adjusted by spinning soft stuff away and he hasn't been able to adjust   All he wants to do is pull the ball and swing as hard as he can on every pitch.  He could be a superstar if he learns to lay back a bit and hit some balls towards CF.

Very excitable personality, over anxious, guess that's part of his package.  Oh well.
