Are we not counting the reliever?  Did he get sent to Iowa?  

I would have liked the Cubs to have gotten a lefty reliever and maybe another bat but this is the kind of buying I was expecting given where the Cubs are at.

Candelario was seriously the biggest bat that was traded. Good for the Cubs I guess, but what a terrible deadline

lol, all the Cubs really did is clean up their 40-man a little and maybe save a couple hundred thousand.

This is a case of Hoyer dipping his toes in the water of competing for a playoff spot without losing anything of real significance.  It's not exciting, and it's probably not enough, but it's better than doing nothing.
