21 combined hits today and the game lasted 2 hours, 15 minutes. I mostly like the pitch clock so far, but have we gone too far?

What if you could play a round of golf in 2.5 hours consistently? Would that be too far?

I don't think that is a fair comparison. For the players, it's great, but at some point it likely becomes a negative for the fans if games are consistently clocking in shorter than any other major sport. And this isn't really our concern, but what does it do to advertising revenue when there is 30-45 minutes less of live game content each night? I guess we'll see how it plays out over time. I still like it for the most part, but I have some concerns with how significantly the games are being shortened.

Whether or not it’s a fair comparison, I don’t know. But what if you could drive to work in less time? Wouldn’t that be better for you?

Doing anything you want to do with more time freedom seems better to me. I don’t care about advertisers or owners.

We're comparing watching a baseball game to driving to work? If baseball is that boring to everyone, we might as well just give up on it altogether.

They’re not shortening the time in between innings are they? If not then the commercials wouldn’t change.

Absolutely criminal if Wesneski isn't the #5 to start the year. And he's set up for 150+ innings this year, so it's not going to take especially complicated gymnastics to manage his innings.

This was my thought as well. All of this is great. My live in-person game watching experience may be slightly worse, but I’m rarely going to games anymore, and I guess it might save me $20-$30 in beer.

The live experience is my biggest concern. TV broadcasts are going to be fine, and likely more palatable for most people. But when I have to travel over an hour both ways to get to a game, then find parking, walk/shuttle to the ballpark, etc, I don't want my actual game experience to be over in 2 hours. On the other hand, if games are wrapping up by 9:00, maybe that's more opportunities to take my school-aged kids to weeknight games... so consider me still undecided. We will just have to wait and see how it plays out when we get to playing regular season games.

While I have definite gripes with the area around Wrigley (which now looks way more similar to Ballpark Village in St Louis, the area around Padres park, etc), I'm totally fine with cutting an hour out of sitting in the bleachers and giving myself more time before/after games to grab a drink, catch some other games on TV, go play catch with my kids, etc. It puts it right around the same timing for an NBA/NHL game, and for weekday games it's nice having a better sense of when you're going to get out there.

It's only spring training, and only 19 official at bats, but hopefully Swanson starts hitting the ball soon. He isn't off to a great start at 1-19 with 8 K's. He does at least have 5 walks though.

Swanson's two best offensive seasons came after his two worst spring training performances(sub-.600 OPS in both 2020 and 2022), so while I'd rather he hit than not I also wouldn't read much into it.

Swanson must be saving all his hits for the regular season and playoffs. Here's too a double digit BB% too

He’s had so many non competitive ABs this entire spring.

Seems sub-optimal. Seems like we have a lot of pitching death so not devastating if he can’t get it going but he was so useful in the multi-inning relief role last year
