Another awful interception for Fields. It sucks because 95% of the game was elite. The last 5% shows you where he has to grow

Is what it is. He's trying to make a play in an unwinnable game. The 1st INT was on St. Brown and the worse job coming out of a break I've ever seen. It sucks that the OC took the ball out of his hands and ran the ball repeatedly when he was in the midst of 11 straight completions and throwing the ball as well as he has all season.

the preponderance of evidence is that coaching is a big hole on top of all the obvious roster deficiencies

Better players == better coaching, the play calling is severely limited by this roster of garbage, don't get me wrong, they've made some mistakes. However, I believe the coaching will dramatically improve with a roster of a professional football team.

I hope you’re right!

But short of throwing out Trevor Semian type at qb I don’t think there is much a coach can do to compel his team to tank personnel wise in the nfl; everyone on that field is playing for money and a longer career

Broncos blew it late - would have been big for the reverse standings, as well as the Bears 2nd rounder from Baltimore.

Other than Bears losing (which I hate) not a great start to the tank race this week after a very good tank weekend last week.

objectively good result that I'm glad I napped through watching.

Justin Fields looked really good on the highlights I saw, and he's still basically the only thing that matters. There's not much else you can analyze on a roster of never-will-be's with $91m in dead cap and a ton of injuries.

Bears arent going to win another game. Even if minny is on auto-pilot that last week, no way the bears win

Yeah I think the Vikings will beat the Bears with backups. I’d be surprised if the Bears finish better than 3-14.

I know it's a bit weird to say after he had two picks and no TDs, but qualitatively that felt like Justin's second best passing game behind Pittsburgh last year. He looked really comfortable all day, which is especially notable with Mooney out.

I agree. 2 mistakes don’t take away from the many good things he did. He looked decisive throwing, confident in the pocket, didn’t need to run too often, don’t think he was sacked, he was really accurate on deep balls and middle of the field stuff.

Pending tape review where there's an obvious better throw, it was like 1.5 mistakes at best.

It was an anticipation throw where Jaire made a great defensive read and St Brown did nothing to protect the ball.

That’s fair. I did go a bit meatball in the immediate aftermath of both throws, pinning them on fields (though acknowledged he had a great game before that). Clearly ESB screwed Fields over on the first one. I don’t know about the second one, I get he was trying to make something happen in desperation time though.

Some media saying this was a missed opportunity for the Bears to break through and finally beat the Packers, they're way, way, off. I'm surprised the game was in question at all, Fields playing with what is close to worst roster in the NFL and the game was there for the taking. It's a credit to how he's grown and improved, if the roster is upgraded there no question the Packers days of dominating the Bears are soon coming to an end. Green Bay doesn't have the draft or financial capital to improve, they're not going to a better team in 2023. The Bears almost certainly are going to look far different the next time they play the Packers. I'd really like to see something like Will Anderson finally putting an end to Rodgers as the Bears win.

I thought I’d care about losing to the Packers but I really don’t at all. Both teams are going nowhere this year but the future is brighter for the Bears. If things go the way we hope they do we’ll take over the rivalry. Of course I would have loved to have shut up that smug 9/11 truther son of a bitch but whatever.

Yeah unfortunately, the draft and FA aren't idiot proof, Anderson is an almost guaranteed high impact player, quite probably the best player in the 2023 draft. It's good for the Bears that an apparent QB starved team is drafting ahead of them because he'd most certainly be taken #1. After the #2 pick Poles can still horsefeathers things up with the remainder of the picks and FA, he's got to hit on a good percentage of them, this is worrisome.

Will Anderson is exactly what we need (or at least one of the many). I still cant help but hope for a massive trade down for a QB needy team because I think having multiple 1sts for the next couple of years (what I would expect in a trade) and still pick in the top 10 is too good to turn down. But I also won't be devastated if they stick with Anderson, who would completely transform the defense immediately.

He's a Micah Parsons clone, without question he will transform the defense, I think if Lovie had his way, he'd take him over Young or Stroud.

Yeah I thought ESB had a solid game but on that play the ball has to come out as the break is happening. Fields can’t know ESB won’t beat the defender back to the ball. It was super disappointing but I think with a better receiver that’s a completion.

That said ESB has actually done more this season than I thought he would. I’m not saying the Bears will keep him though.
