there has to be some kind of trade coming. they talked about rim protection all offseason and then they sign gallinari and drummond?

I think they confused rim protection with just being tall.

Replacing Tristan Thompson with Drummond and DJJ with Gallo is probably a net gain, but it probably takes them from 6th seed to.......a 6th seed that clinches a couple days earlier.

What would it take to get KD?

I'd be willing to go Vooch, DeMar, PWill, Coby, and picks but I doubt the Nets would have a lot of interest in that offer.

I mean, health is obviously the million dollar question with this team. They were one of the best teams in the NBA (and the analytics backed it) when they were healthy. They lost arguably (is it even, really?) their two most important defensive players right when their schedule was getting to its toughest point. With those guys they were one of the best defensive teams in the league, disrupting passing lanes and causing constant havoc. Without them, what was arguably their biggest strength turned into a huge weakness. On top of that, their second best player was playing through an injury all year.

Remains to be seen if some semblance of a healthy season is in play for those guys, particularly Lonzo, but if it is, this is team is better than that. They were a 6th seed with all that crap happening.

EDIT - Also, I, personally, have major doubts about Patrick Williams but plenty of people (people who know a lot better than I do) believe there's something there. If there is and he's capable of taking a leap and putting some of his freak attributes to use, all bets are off.

lmao, guessing thats the last of the MLE and will avoid the tax. I'm not sure what the point is as he's ok defensively but doesn't solve any of the major issues the Bulls had last year.

Yeah, part of that is me assuming injuries again. COVID stuff and hopefully Caruso's injury(ies) were flukes. But even if they do finish as a higher seed, I don't think they made up enough ground to catch the Celts, Heat (who are in on Durant too), Bucks, and Sixers (assuming Harden back and they add) in a 7-gamer.

Nah, still have the same ability to add 1 more MLE player.

And Leandro Bolmaro.

Feels like not much of anything.

ETA: Take it back, Woj now saying it's 4 first-round picks. That's freakin crazy.

It’s a lot but minn has three cornerstones under contract that should fit well together

Yep, but that is one hell of a price. ESPN and TNT are going to weep when the 2023 Western playoffs include Minnesota, New Orleans, Utah, Memphis and San Antonio.

What is KD going to command if Gobert is worth that much?

WSCR guys yesterday were looking at the Anthony Davis to Lakers trade as a reasonable comp.

That was a three team trade, but if you just look at the assets leaving the Lakers, it was 7 players - and not just scrubs, they included 5 actual assets in Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, De’Andre Hunter, Brandon Ingram and Moritz Wagner - three 1st round draft picks and a 2nd round draft pick.

i don't think the injuries were as bad as people make them out to be. our top 3 guys played most games. yeah zach was banged up, but he was there and put up good numbers. lonzo you can expect to be hurt every year. the rest of it was overblown. the nba had an abornamlly high amount of missed games last year. most contenders in the east dealt with similar problems.

and didn't our analytical slide start before caruso and lonzo went down? seems like we build up a great record winning a bunch of close games with demar magic. i remember we had a solid point differential very early, but it steadily went down after that.

we won 46 games while being outscored for the season. i think 46 wins is an accurate representation of this team as is.

Running out the same team and hoping for a different result. I see we're taking the Chicago Cubs 2018-2020 approach.

I get it's not exactly sexy but I'm not sure what else they should be doing. The Bulls had a million injuries last year and still had the best record in the east at the all star break (not parade worthy of course but still something). I think AKME is doing fine all things considered; the bigger villain to me is the dorfs and their miserly ways.
