Something is up with Trent Frazier, in a "this will be the last time he plays basketball " sense. Can't shoot at all for the 5th game straight, got to be the soulder that's been braced all season, no?

Yeah. We were playing 4 on 5 all night with him out there. He’s always been hot and cold, but not like this.

Very frustrating to watch him offensively. Glad his career didn't end with that game. But, on the bright side he still defended very well and that alley-oop to Hawkins late in the game is not getting talked about enough.

Underwood said during today's press conference that Frazier was unable to see out of his right eye during the game, which not only affected his perception on shots, but also made it so he couldn't see the ball when he was dribbling in his right hand.

I was thinking there were a good amount of upsets in this tournament, and while it's not like it's all chalk, it's not even as crazy (so far) as last year.

We had a 15-seed in the -Sweet 16 last year (completely blanked on this and was thinking FGCU was the only one to do it).

We had a region with a 2-8-11-12 Sweet 16 and another with a 1-5-6-7 Sweet 16.

We had teams seeded 6, 11 and 12 in the Elite 8.

During the Chattanooga pregame PC's it appeared his right eye was almost swollen shut hopefully, it'll be cleared up or at least significantly improved today. It really sucks that injuries, illness, etc. have robbed this Illini team of what could have been, at one point Friday the Illini were +15 with Curbelo on the floor, think about what they may have been with a healthy Curbelo all season. If he sticks around and some NIL money can be found to entice Kofi to return, they could be special next season.

How refreshing would it be if the Illini weren't team that's over hyped and comes out flat? Is allowable that they could be the that team plays fast and loose having fun instead of playing like their collective jocks are in a noose? Could it just horsefeathering happen once, just horsefeathering once?

Underwood should strongly consider leaving Williams and Grandison on the bench in favor of Goode and Melendez. Williams and Grandison at this point, are next to useless, one has no offensive game and the other is still injured, makes no sense for either of them to see the floor. He won't do it, it'd require some risk taking and balls, instead, because of foolish loyalty, he'll go with Williams and Grandison far too long. Edited by gflore34

Well Grandison is basically playing with 1 arm, so yeah

I’d be pretty surprised if Curbelo doesn’t transfer at this point.

Well, this was quite the second half meltdown

Houston' good, playing with 3/5 of team, without question Frazier right eye was still affecting him, result not so surprising. Let's see how Houston fares on the offensive boards vs the length of Arizona, Houston fouls and goes over the back quite a bit. And that ridiculous T on Melendez hurt quite a bit, I am so sick of the Illini getting fucked over time and again in the NCAA, seeding, BS calls.

By the way, I didn't think either of these teams has much of a chance vs. Arizona.

While Michigan and Illinois haven’t been too friendly to each other the last 2 years, I do feel bad for Illini fans for the draw they’ve gotten the last 2 years.

Last year as a 1 seed they had to play the number 10 KenPom team in the 2nd round. This year as a 4 seed they had to play the number 2 KenPom team. That’s really shitty luck

I honestly don't believe its luck, its surely by design, for whatever reason the NCAA is out to horsefeathers over Illinois and I don't know why. The only thing Underwood can do is keep getting them in, one of these years, despite the NCAA' efforts, the match up dominoes are going to fall the Illin' way.

It sucks, because it felt like they were just getting their footing in the game there mid-2nd half, and then the bogus tech completely took them back out of it.

Trent didn't have it still, Grandison wasn't eve 50% let alone 100%, Williams was awful, Curbelo didn't have it today, and it was still a tie game midway through the 2nd half. Hats off to the freshmen for giving the team a shot, and I feel bad for kofi who just has guys hanging on him every play and will continue to have it until refs call it consistently (first game they stopped calling it in the 2nd half, this game they called 6 fouls on him, one flagrant, and that covered maybe 1/4 of the fouls on him).

Next year, no Frazier, Plummer or Williams, possibly no Cockburn or Grandison, returning Curbelo, Hawkins, Goode, Melendez, Payne, Podz (who really didn't play much once conference season started), possibly Hutcherson (going on 3 years he has been out for the season with an injury), and adding 3 highly touted freshmen and transfer Dain Dainja, let's see if they can keep up some of the regular season momentum and get back into the tournament.

I think you meant to put this in the bat (expletive) conspiracy thread.

Curbelo was supposed to be an All Big 10 level point guard this season. A complete lost season for him. In the 2 Tourney games, he played 40 minutes, shot 1 for 11 and turned the ball over 8 times.

Nothing to do but get healthy and regroup for next year.

I know the part about Illinois purposely getting screwed over by the NCAA is a far fetched overreaction however, the thought if Underwood can keep getting them in the Tournament one of those is going have favorable match ups is not so bizarre.

In looking at what teams remain in the South bracket is there any reason to not believe Arizona' going to roll over all of them?

I mean it sucks to see them (IL) ousted early but they got beat pretty good today. They just didn’t get it done.

Shouldn’t this be moved to the conspiracy theory thread?
