Any Bears fan not picking the winning season is in complete denial about the horsefeathering historically inept team they're a fan of. Like, the architects of all of their most recent humiliations are still in charge, come the horsefeathers on.

What about the scenario that Dalton starts week 1, Fields is used for a few gimmick plays a couple of times a game and gets a season ending injury?

I'm just a pessimistic Bears fan, sorry. I'm in the start Fields now camp.i think he starts week 4 vs Detroit at home. Bears are 1-2, with narrow victory vs Cincinnati with Dalton.

If you're pessimistic then nothing matters. Field's leg will spontaneously combust on the 50 yard line against the Packers and they'll blow a 30-3 lead in the 4th quarter.

Bears signed another receiver (Perriman)

I thought they signed him a week ago

Re Dalton/Fields; I just cannot fathom a double digit win season with their schedule and loss of Fuller and Leno w/Dalton as the QB. I mean, I just can't get past that. What ever make believe sauce you guys are taking, send me some plz

It was reported, but hasn't been official. Someone needs to be cut, IR'd or traded. Crossing fingers for a Foles trade, lol. Just attach our 6th to whoever will take him.

What about a season where Fields wins ROTY while winning only 7 games but losing 7-8 by 5 points or less? I can see that as a positive outcome going into 2022 with this years schedule and holes on the OL.

Pure fluff here but I’ll share. This is just one of 20,000 simulations that ESPN did on the season but this one is interesting for the Bears. They start out the season 1-6, Dalton is benched after the 4th game. Then they miraculously go 7-3 the rest of the way to finish 8-9 and win the 7th seed where they narrowly lose to the 49ers 20-17. It doesn’t have stats but it implies Fields started out slow but then started playing well leading to the comeback.

In this sim the Bills beat the Packers in the SB

Do you even know how to play would you rather?

Sure. To me, that scenario is far better then winning 10 games behind Dalton, winning on the backs of an aging defense, and going into 2022 with essentially a rookie QB we still know nothing about

I mean, if we get specific enough I'm sure you can draw up a 10 win campaign where a 7 win campaign has me more optimistic about 2022-2024. But in the whole, I'll take more wins.

But yea, if a 10 win campaign is on the back of like Jimmy Graham catching 1000 yard and 10 TDs, Arob going 120/1400 and demanding a trade, Kmet suffering a Zach Miller like injury, Mooney regressing, and Roquan Smith being outplayed by Alec Ogletree. Yea, I'm not gonna feel great about the future. And they win 8 of those games by 4 points.

And maybe there's just a really unlucky 7 win campaign where they have a huge positive point differential, all the young pieces show progress and Fields is ROY. And they just got a bunch of bad bounces.

But we're working at the exremes I feel like of what's possible with those relative scenarios. As much as I want Fields to play, I actually don't think his long term success is affected by it one way or the other, and knowing nothing else, I'll take the wins.

WHAT IF the Bears go 17-0 and win the SB because it turns out Cairo Santos can kick 90 yard FGs at a 99% clip, but dies on March 1st, and Justin Fields comes out as a member of the Proud Boys.

Betcha wish you had taken the 6 win team with a Justin Fields ROY award, huh. Oh he personally vaccinates 80% of the vaccine hesitant population too. DUMMY.

Anyone who starts a Packers' thread in any positive way....

Should be banned.

They should only be mentioned when they lose in the NFC title game.

There's a bunch of hand wringing on Twitter this morning about the negative cap impacts of cutting Robert Quinn and Nick Foles but I haven't seen anything to indicate the Bears are cutting Robert Quinn or Nick Foles?
