The Patriots just dropped Cam Newton meaning that Lance and Fields are the only 1st round QBs not starting Week 1. The 49ers have a QB that started in the Super Bowl 2 years ago, the Bears have Andy Dalton

every time i put any thought into it, i can't even begin to wrap my head around the thought process that led to that rick mirer trade.

the #11 pick in the first round. for a guy who had already proven to be a special level of bad in the NFL. how?

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MireRi00.htm - for reference

Yep. That one made no sense at the time. I was so pissed when they made that trade.

This seems a little strange of a cut. I know he was injured early on and I didn't see a ton of great stuff from him in the preseason but it seems a bit unusual for a 6th round pick to be cut before their rookie season. Especially because Nagy wants his kick returners to run every kick back.

Also the Bears released Trufant and and Riley Ridley. Trufant is strange just because of how thin the Bears are at that position. Ridley makes sense though... Ridley, Wims and Newsome all cut in recent days. Looks like Rodney Adams and Jon'Vea Johnson are both going to make the team. Really love when someone like Adams play themselves onto the roster.

There are whispers about the Bears possibly cutting Trevathan but haven't seen anything yet.

Only 4 teams have managed to win a game since 2000 in which their QB threw no TD's and 4 INT's. The Bears have done it twice. One is Grossman in the "They are who we thought they were game" in which Rexy had an additional 2 fumbles. In fact, the Bears offense only generated 3 points in the win. Who is the other QB?

I already read the article so I know the answer but I would have known without it. That game was so awful but the Bears were in control the whole way because Forte ran for like 800 yards and the defense did the rest.

When you look at it through the lens that Bears have had the most consistently bad QB situation in the league, it almost feels like the Bears have overachieved over that 35 year time period. 1 super bowl win, 1 other super bowl appearance, 2 other conference title game appearances, 13 total playoff appearances. All done with Jay Cutler as the best QB in that timeframe.

I can already see someone like jersey replying and saying the Bears last 35 years should not be looked as overachieving in any way. Don't get me wrong, the Bears performance in that timeframe is probably within the bottom 10 of the league and should be viewed that way. But somehow we've been able to cobble together the little success that we did have over that span while handicapped at the most important position in sports the entire time.

look at it this way, in the last 35 years both the the Vikings and Detroit have been arguably WORSE

0 SB appearances

0 SB wins

and neither has won the Division more times then the Bears

The other was Todd Collins 10/10/10 against the Panthers. Went 6-16 for 32 yards, 0 TD’s, and 4 INT’s. Bears won 23-6. Matt Forte had 2 rushing TD’s and Robbie Gould had 3 FG’s. Jimmy Clausen started at QB for Carolina.

Wait, the Bears cut Thomas Graham too? Cut both 6th rounders in the draft. I thought Graham looked good in the preseason games, maybe I'm wrong.

Bears had 7 draft picks, one of them is probably out for the season, and 2 others have been cut.

Granted they only had 2 picks in the first 4 rounds, but just kind of funny given the praise the Bears got for their draft, and not just Fields and Jenkins, many people seemed to love the Newsome and Graham picks.

Like what the horsefeathers is going on at CB?

Hopefully waiting to pounce on a veteran cut or something. Really not liking the moves lately.

We have 5 TE's and 5 WR's on the final roster. Is it me or is that dumb as horsefeathers?

Horsted was used as a WR throughout college so I’m guessing he could fill in there.

But yes the Bears seem extremely thin in some areas (WR, CB) and way over staffed in others (LB)
