This season isn't real. These playoffs aren't real. Nothing matters and this is all practice.

I reserve the right to completely change my opinion on this if the Cubs go on to win the World Series.

Generally I'm of the school that the tactical stuff we see is not the most important aspect of a managers job. By all accounts Ross is very good at the soft skills part of the job.

But the guy REALLY needs to work on the in game stuff. Luckily that's not that hard to learn. Play a bunch of The Show this offseason or something.

...wasn't Ross a MLB catcher for multiple seasons? Like, IRL?

I hope Ross uses this season and the feedback he will surely get from Theo et al. to be better next year. He's left pitchers in too long and lost leads or had runs scored on the pitcher far too many times this year.

He’s a complete moron with in game decisions, like an alarmingly bad moron. But he’s probably good with the in house stuff. He literally needs an in game coordinator to be making decisions for him if he’s staying around. I don’t think he’s ever gonna get it.

Who is the bench coach right now? He needs a "young and brilliant but not quite ready to manage" type guy in there

Andy Green, who either is also a moron or Ross doesn’t listen to. Borzello seems to have some sort of input too.

Ross can be our new positive morale coach then.

Maybe we ought to be replacing the hitting coach too.

You think those matter with a team like this? They’re all veterans basically. A hitting coach isn’t changing horsefeathers.

I kind of wonder if that's doing some of the harm right now. He obviously has a strong grasp of what's going on on the field. Is he spending too much of his attention on the micro level field general type stuff ("Kimbrel is dropping his arm when he throws the curve") and less on the macro level game and series management stuff? Because I feel like his issues are usually reacting too late to problems moreso than making nonsensical decisions.

Winning the fake division title means more to me than whether or not we win the first couple of fake playoff series. *Maybe* I'll start to care if there's a pennant on the line.
