Magic number is 24

There is no way that is right. I think it’s 54 for the division. Wild card shouldn’t be that much different

From cubs.com:

"K.B.'s dealing with just a few little bumps and bruises," Ross said in a pregame Zoom discussion with reporters. "I just want to make sure we get on top of it immediately and it doesn't become a bigger issue."

Ross noted that Bryant was receiving treatment behind the scenes, but the Cubs' medical staff did not deem it necessary to pursue additional testing at this point.

"The training staff doesn't seem really concerned," Ross said. "It's just, we're using caution and making sure that he's 100 percent. We need this guy for this season."

The underlining is mine. How many times the past few years has "additional testing not been necessary" and then months later we find out that it was something serious? Just pay for the bloody MRI / catscan already.

That was nice of Thom to say. But Thom, you’re still a douchebag.

He also was gushing about how Pedro Strop is just the greatest player ever, nicest guy, best teammate, etc. I'm guessing you wouldn't have dig to deep to find him criticizing Pedro when he was a Cub

I’m going to guess he made a comment about Strop’s hat not being on straight in at least 50% of Strop’s appearances against the Reds.

So, in addition to the Cubs now being in first place, because they've played the Brewers and Reds while the other three contenders have all had series against the Pirates or Tigers, the Cubs now have the easiest remaining strength of schedule per Fangraphs.

It's not a huge difference, looks like about a quarter of a win over 55 games, but with such tight margins it matters. The Cubs now project as a .545 win % team versus .535 at the start of the season (an 88 win team versus an 87). That's partly performance so far and partly partly the schedule.
