Rizzo has two years left....

Club option for this year and next.

Right, so how is this “probably his last go around?” He’s gonna be here for 2 more years at minimum. They’re aren’t not picking up his ~$16 million option next year.

I'm not going to make efforts to engineer my life around watching Cubs games like I did 2015-2018.

I'm a baseball fan in general, so just happy it'll be here soon. Not excited about the Cubs though.

It's Cubs baseball of course I'm stoked!! If you're not, go find a field hockey board to horsefeathering post on.

Field Hockey...so that's why 312sports never took off.

A little less excited than most years, but baseball is still my favorite sport so fairly excited. I've found my sports fandom drop quite a bit across the board though. The only Chicago team I've made an effort to watch a majority of games this year is the Bears but that's mostly because games are once a week, I'm usually just as interested in following my fantasy team along with the Bears game, and several years ago my wife and i came to an understanding that those are 3 hours I'm allowed to get for myself under almost any circumstances.

Even the Cubs in like August/September, I was just following the games on my phone and would turn it on for a big moment here and there. Bulls I've probably watched 0.046% of their season. Hawks I turn on games midway through the 3rd period when its close.

Basically I've become the type of sports fan that I once despised and could not at all relate to about 10 years ago.

It's baseball and there won't be much to do on most spring and summer evenings, so I'll be watching most of the time. I'm not excited for the season as a whole but I'm excited to have Anthony Rizzo, Javy Baez, (hopefully) Kris Bryant and a few other guys in my life for a few months.

Yep, for all the obvious frustrations, the roster still has five or six of my favorite baseball players of all time, and if anything, I'm especially aware now that that can change very quickly.

This is the least excited I've been for a Cubs season since probably 2013. At least 2014 had the excitement of Javy and Soler probably getting called up at some point.

It's baseball, so of course I'm excited the season is nearing. I try to limit my afternoon meetings at work, so I can listen to the play-by-play when they have a day game. If it's a night game, I can relax with a drink or four and enjoy watching the game. I even have my ticket for the March 7 Spring Training game in Vegas.

Not that I enjoy watching them fall short of the playoffs, but the past few years were certainly a hell of a lot better than the previous few decades. Bring on the season.
