Is it bad that I feel like the Astros and Yankees have gotten off way too light on this stuff and so I'm glad it's blowing up for at least one of them?

Nope you’re both wrong. You don’t necessarily have to list the person’s name in the headline but you can’t just say “Astros staffer”. That means nothing. It’s a guy who is one promotion from running his own front office and it should be called out as such. Say assistant GM. Say executive. But “Astros staffer” is [expletive].

It's the freaking headline and was spelled out completely in the story. My lord.

And? A lot of people will probably see the headline and think it was some random dude and won’t bother to read the story. It’s not. Call it what it is. This isn’t very hard. Headlines matter. Not as much as the content of the actual story. But they matter.

Nope. Wrong. And because the guy is nobody anybody knows and "Assistant GM" is a title nobody cares about, saying a staffer actually is probably better for clicks because people then want to find out who it was.

ETA: Also, it would have been fine to say executive. Agreed. But let's not act like it was a shameful moment for the headline writer.

One look at a photo of this guy and it's clear he wasn't just "supporting Osuna after a bad outing".

Oh, Jesus. Look at that punchable mug.

Sadly, there are likely way too close odds that the Cubs would hire him as soon as he's fired/"resigns."

At least there seem to be a lot of organizations worse than us?

Sarcasm?

Not really? We might be run by Machiavelian turds willing to win regardless of any kind of ethic, but at least we aren't telling female reporters "horsefeathers you lady! This wife beater kicks ass in all the right ways." I think that is a worthy distinction.

No, we're just trading for them and picking up their options. Trust me, those actions speak way louder.

I decided to actually be sarcastic there.

Edit: Louder? I don't follow you. Don't our trade and option actions (apart from executives trolling reporters to their faces about domestic violence, which was entirely my point) speak exactly as loud?

I don't think it's really a competition between a handful of teams. I've written this before, but all pro sports organizations are poor on the moral scale. They all employ abusers, racists, etc. They all cover up things that never actually make it out to the public.

It's just a bad industry. Winning and making money are the only things that matter.

Who was the home plate umpire in Game 1? Giving credit where it is due, he was on it tonight. He had one of the best and most consistent strike zones I have seen in awhile.

Heh, I only saw about 3 innings but I had the same thought. Dude was right on.

And good job Nats, do the damn thing.
