Week 2 - Chicago Bears @ Denver Broncos - Sunday 9/15 at 3:25 on FOX

Also, can anyone explain why a delay of game penalty, followed by an offsides penalty leads to a 2 point conversion attempt from the 1? Shouldn’t the offsides have negated the first penalty leading to a 2 point conversion try from the 2? Or could it have been half the distance from the goal, thus a 2 point try from the 3.5 yard line?

Very confused how offsetting penalties ultimately benefit the Broncos?

Two-point conversion is from the 2. PAT from like the 15 or something like that. So, when they got the offsides they decided to go for 2 from half the distance to the goalline (AKA the 1), instead of the PAT from the 10.

Not that it would make a huge difference, but seems like it should be at the 2 and not the 1.

2 or 15. - 5 penalty. 7 or 20. + 5 yard penalty 2 or 15.

Ah ok. I didn't realize the Broncos got a penalty on the PAT first. My stream died on 4th and 2, and came back when the Broncos had the lead.

They weren’t offsetting, they happened on dif snaps

I think he just meant similar distance for the penalty.

The Broncos should’ve had the option to kick it 5 yards closer or go for 2 from the 2. It’s a bad rule.

This isn't quite 8 year old me upset and storming off and missing John Paxson's Finals winning 3 in '93, but I was coming back into town on the Metra and was listening to the game on the SiriusXM app and realized it's like 3 plays behind and so at the end I was refreshing twitter during the meltdown and when the 2 happened I shut it off. Didn't check my phone till 20 minutes later when I got to Ogilvie. Oops. First thing I saw was a push notification from the NBCSN MyTeams app and keyed in on "Piniero" and was pretty confused for a second.

A win is a win.

True. A crappy QB and dumb coach is a crappy QB and dumb coach too.

I've seen this stupid season so many times and I'm so bored with it. 2001, 2005, 2006, 2012. And those are just the times it mostly worked.

Are there any fun teams to root for in the NFL this year?

It's the NFL there is no fun, only pain. You should enjoy it.

Yeah, the biggest thing I enjoyed about the game was seeing Piniero come through.

I'm kinda shocked how fast the staff whipsawed from having Mitch throw or make RPO decisions on every play to rolling him out there with training wheels on.

I think this is an even more alarming signal about Mitch than his performance in week 1. If there were any real mitigating factors to the week 1 performance, they wouldn't have drastically changed the game plan like this. Maybe they tune the run pass balance and take some of the decisions out of Trubisky's hands. But what we saw here is a game plan you would put in place if you had a 5th round rookie pushed into a starting role due to injury. It feel like a bit of capitulation on Mitch from the coaching staff. I hope I'm wrong.

Looking ahead to next Monday, Bears open as a 6.5 point road favorite? Seems really high

I see 4.5. Maybe 6.5 is the over/under

OH yeah baby. POTD.

Tyler Bray was hitting UDFA receivers in stride time and again in the preseason. I know he was going against 3rd string defenses, but he was also being protected by 3rd string offensive line. There are only 16 games in a season. If Trubisky can't offer up something better than what we've seen so far, I'd like to see what Bray can do. Stop making excuses and fix this problem. Guys are getting open and Trubisky is missing. That first drop by Cohen should have been a touchdown if he hits him in stride. Instead, he underthrew that one. Most of his other passes were overthrows. He had good protection and still can't make the throws that need to be made. I watch a lot of other games, and the level of play from the QB position is light years ahead of what the Bears are getting from Trubisky. I swear he looks scared out there. If he doesn't have confidence to make the throws, he shouldn't be out there.

An average QB gets this team to the Super Bowl. I just hope Mitch can become that. He did have a hand full of good games last year(Tampa in particular).

He's on the PS.

But let's be honest, Bray is not the answer. Sink or swim with Mitch thus year and bring in real competition next year.

Can’t just throw a season away with this D in place. The clock is ticking. If Mitch has nothing to offer they’ve got to see if they can get close to mediocre at QB. I’m not there yet but I could see benching him if another two games go by with no improvement.

There is nobody they can bring in from the outside that would be competent and Chase Daniel already showed how awful he is, losing to the Giants last year.

It's Mitch or nothing this year.

Yeah seriously, are we suggesting that Tyler Bray is the way to maximize having an elite defense this year? Look Mitch has been terrible this year and is likely not the answer long term at QB, but with Bray you are getting Mitch's performance on Sunday without the one good throw at the end. I still have faith that Mitch can play adequately enough to be the clear better option than anyone else on the roster or anyone who would be available midseason.
