Russell shouldn’t play again for this team

As if you couldn’t hate him more, he has destroyed any possible trade value he had.

horsefeathering Mets blow another save to a team we need to lose.

The Mets are a game worse than the Phillies. As long as neither team sweeps, it’s a fine result. No need getting upset over that.

Plus it’s always funny when the Mets implode.

It’s just one loss after a 7-3 run but tonight shows why this team can’t go on a sustained run. Too many holes. Some nights they don’t get ya and the top end talent prevails. Other times the starter implodes, the offense sucks and dumb mistakes are made in the field.

I get what you’re saying but haven’t we won like 12 of 16 and like 7 of 10 or so?

We need Javy back.

It’s honestly hilarious that Cain is playing on one leg.

Equally hilarious we’ve somehow managed to walk his bum ass twice tonight instead of making his broken down body swing a bat.

I just went back and checked Russell's career stats to try to figure out what happened to him and when his performance regressed... It turns out he has always been bad. I guess I bought into the hype and always thought his first couple seasons were better than what they really were. Sure he showed some flashes of power, but has a career OPS barely over 700. What did everyone see in him? I get that Maddon is putting him in the lineup now because there is no defensive alternative at SS, but there is no way he can even be with the team in Spring Training next year.

Really feels like he peaked in 2016. Didn't we all :-k

He was a really really good defender with some power who otherwise wasn't a black hole offensively. 100% a valuable player at ages 20-21 and under team control.

I mean he was a 3.3 win player at age 22. Most of that was defensive value but everyone figured the bat would develop. He made the majors at 21 so there was room to expect improvement. Obviously that didn’t happen and we found out he’s a piece of horsefeathers in the process

IIRC he also took his walks and generally gave you a good plate appearance. Now he is basically 0-2 before he steps into the box.

If some spirit were to tell me that his baseball talent has essentially been taken away as karmic punishment to the Cubs for keeping him around, I would completely believe it.

No game thread up yet but do yourself a favor and don’t look at tonight’s lineup

*ignores UMFan*

*checks lineup*

1. ALMORA

*closes tab, chucks laptop into the river, drinks bleach*
