In the “how the horsefeathers is this happening file” the Orioles are shutting out the Nats in the 8th and somehow got out of a bases loaded jam. On the road.

It's beyond absurd how long Heyward has been getting the most PA per game of anyone on the team. Here's his August line going in to tonight:

.192 .322 .384 .705

And July wasn't much better. They kicked him top when he had already been struggling for weeks, and it's just gotten worse.

Darvish was on point tonight. As is the norm, tons of Cubs fans at Citi Field. Surrounded by 8-year olds screaming LETS GO CUBS. Felt right at home.

Counsell seems to have stopped pitching Hader.

He’s pitched once in 10 days (like last Saturday or Friday), he almost had to be hurt to not be used in this spot.

The Cardinals devil magic on full display.

There's a reason we shouldn't be rooting for St. Louis.

I would root for ISIS first.

Ok what about Donald Trump or the St. Louis Cardinals?

Oh wait that’s basically the same thing

It....doesn’t work that way.

Does it?

Rowan Wick talked about this spring in the lab the Cubs had him try some new curve grips and he took to the knuckler rather quickly because he said you throw it just like a fastball. For a guy with Yu's aptitude I believe it. I think it will permeate across the league and we will start seeing a lot more of them. In the article I read I believe it said theres about 80 pitchers throwing them right now. I bet that number is a lot higher in a couple years.

Nothing to see here, just an MLB starter with like 9 pitches. Yu is a horsefeathering savage.

I wonder how much difficult that makes the catcher's job. For a three or four pitch guy, once you decide between fastball and offspeed, your choices are pretty easy. Imagine having to go through 7 different breaking pitches and figuring out the best one based on the hitter's history, the pitch sequence, the strike zone, what Yu has been throwing better, etc.
