The Home Cubs aren't screwing around anymore.

They're looking as good as ever, maybe even feeling themselves a bit.

And today, they send out the Professor. He has a way of taking opposing batters by surprise.

You might even say winning is their density.

Might this still be in play after all?

It's August 2019 and a team has Brett Anderson and Homer Bailey in their rotation and they're in the playoff hunt.

The A's are 16 games over 500 and are 8 1/2 out. We need to figure out the road nonsense and get ourselves back to 500. Need to win at least a couple in this series to keep things going at home.

They're a half game out of the wild card, so his statement is correct. Not sure what the rest of that means in this context.

I'm being lazy and not checking for myself, so someone tell me how much of a division lead the Cubs would have if they were even just .500 on the road.

I have a feeling like the answer might make me have a minor stroke.

That's 6 games flipped from L to W, so assuming none of those came against those who are chasing them, 7.5 games. "Realistically", probably in the neighborhood of 8.5 games.

I take issue with "Cobs" in the thread title. They have earned the right to be called "Cubs" at home.

This string started with "Cobs", I'll be damned if I'm going to change it now. Otherwise...

we'd probably all feel better if they cubs were slightly less good at home and slightly better on the road and then the numbers wouldn't make it seem totally bizarre

it wouldn't be a storyline if that were the case

Underwood is back up, he hasn’t been down for 10 days so that means someone is getting IL’d.

Unless they're gonna make up a pitcher injury, I have a feeling it might be a certain third baseman.

Hopefully Chatwood. I wouldn't put it past them, but going with three bench players (2 really, given that the third is Taylor Davis) would be impressive self-sabotage even for them.

Yeah I’m guessing KB too and play with a short bench for a day or two. Though making up something for Chatwood after yesterday would make some sense since he’s down for a few days anyways. If Yu is really that sick maybe they IL him, to get him a breather. Wouldn’t be the worst thing to give him an abbreviated rest anyways and manage some innings on him. Phelps I guess maybe too, he’s just working his way back and something could’ve barked on him.

Need to not post while doing other things. Point I was trying to make was they have a better record than us and are just fighting for the wildcard. We are really lucky our division is garbage and we need to get our crap together on the road.

we'd probably all feel a lot better if the brewers had only won 86 games last year.

We'd also be 66-45, a game up on the Braves for HFA in the NLDS.

Still 6.5 games behind the Dodgers though

Great call on the sweep, however, I don't think you will be right about KB.
