Well, I started my last game thread 2 weeks ago, and now I'm back at it again. Will the 2019 Cubs or the board die quicker? YOU BE THE JUDGE.

Anyway...it's a new month, so let's have a fresh start. And the Cubs have a fresh starter going! Adbert has a super sweet blue glove, and he's not infuriating (yet), so let's hope for the best. But really, check out that glove!

It looks like he skinned a bunch of Smurfs! It probably tastes delicious.

He squares off against a real dirtbag who has one of the worst tattoo sleeves I've ever seen:

Here's the damn lineup for the damn Cubs:

And here's what type of Cubs win it would be nice to see tonight:

Am I just imagining this, but wasn't Bote performing quite well when Russell was sitting with that hand issue, only to disappear from the lineup for like 10 of the last 14 games or so? FFS

I'm keeping an eye on a hilarious text chain between my dad and my uncle, where they have sunk to some amazing depths of paranoia where they are CONVINCED that Rizzo is pissed and/or depressed. They turn into a gossip circle over literally any of shot of Rizzo where they think it's weird how he's not smiling, or that he's not "happy enough" when someone else does well, or he doesn't seem to be celebrating when they win or someone dongs, or whatever.

The only reason a small part of me wants to think that that's true (and not just a bunch of pure insanity that probably should have me at least semi-worried about a couple of family members) is that if it's because he hates playing with Russell.

Bote had a rough June from a production standpoint. You can tie most of it to BABIP (.235), but that also follows a May where BABIP helped hide some pretty rough rate stats (30.5% K%, .378 BABIP). Additionally, his batted ball profile dropped off a little bit in June (hard hit by month: 42%, 45.8%, 29.6, although he posted his best LD% so I continue to be confused by those stats). Regardless, he should be playing a lot more than he is, especially given the garbage we're putting out there instead.

In conclusion, Bote is a land of contrasts. Thank you.

You are giving meathead athletes too much credit.

The Ian Happ / Zobrist rumours on Twitter are the real conspiracy theory. Albeit complete nonsense.

Oh, most definitely.

Well, I think I've come around to the people who don't think this team is very good. Every day I see at least one just careless defensive play that looks like Little Leaguers, the offense can't score runs without hitting home runs and we are not even playing well against subpar teams.
