I know the numbers don't bear it out, but I would have rather had Brach batting again there the way Bryant is hitting with guys in scoring position.

This team has a lot of problems with pitching

How many 2 out runs the last couple of games?

And how many times have our batters failed in the same situation.

Milwaukee losing now. We might STILL be in first at the end of the night.

Reds will be at 4.5 back and Pirates 4 back.

I know people think it's nuts but if the Cubs and Brewers look like they currently look, those two teams are not out of it.

The Pirates did this to Houston before Milwaukee somehow shut them down. They are better than the Cubs. The Cubs are maybe the 4th best team in the division.

Ok, r_mack

Would have nailed the landing if he somehow mixed in a little “next 10 years of Chicago sports is going to be awful”

They definitely aren’t. I think the reds more than the Pirates.

The Cubs might just keep on sucking the rest of the year but chances are this is pretty much rock bottom and they will play at least some degree better at some point soon.

Have to remember they have played 50 games in 52 days. Maybe it’s excuse making but we’ve repeatedly seen this core of Cubs teams struggle towards the end of these stretches, even the 2016 team. They also seem to hit a wall before the all star break every season.

Or the one month of really good baseball wasn’t actually the norm?
