Didn’t really know where to put this but figured we could use a thread like this.

Another offseason thread?

Seinfeld-Hellooooo.gif?x33133

Don’t we typically have a thread for Cubs rumors, a thread for other team rumors, a thread for other transactions and then once we get some stronger rumors on individual trades/players connected to us a thread for them? I didn’t see a general rumors thread for not Cubs teams.

I tried starting s thread like this but ended up deleting it after it sat empty for a week. Maybe yours will catch on

That could have just been you

That was my first thought

Wouldn't surprise me if that was the case, but I'd guess that they'd double down on pitching first - say Keuchel or Corbin to go with Paxton AND maybe a Charlie Morton (who wants to be on the East Coast, near Delaware, IIRC).

Makes me sorta wonder if the Yankees jump in on Addison Russell if gets set free.

Any possibility of coming up with a trade with the Yankees based on Russell and Chatwalk for Gray? What would need to be added from either side to make it work?

The Padres and Mariners have been talking about a fascinating potential trade scenario involving some large contracts, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (via Twitter). There’s no indication at this point of the likelihood of a deal being consummated, but it seems the sides may at least in part be waiting on word of whether a player involved would waive his no-trade rights.

Per Rosenthal, the possible deal is built around three major league players. Whether there’s more involved isn’t apparent, but at base, the M’s would receive slugger Wil Myers while sending shortstop Jean Segura and righty Mike Leake to San Diego. Notably, though, Leake has a no-trade clause and is said to be considering his options. Segura does as well, though there’s no indication about his status.

The Mets, like the Indians, seem like they want to keep competing with these trades of their pitchers more than get prospects so I could see us being a fit. I’d guess it ultimately takes Javy or Willy to get Syndergaard (I wouldn’t do that), but maybe some combo of Q, Monty, Happ, Schwarbs, Almora (yes please), Russell, Carl (they need bullpen help and he’s still cheap), and prospects (Adbert, Amaya, etc.) gets it done.

I do wonder if Thor might cost less than the general consensus assumes. James Paxton just went for a pretty reasonable price. and he's basically the same guy minus a year of team control. I know it would require some more balancing, but a framework of Q, Russell, and an outfielder for Thor and Seth Lugo would make a lot of sense for both sides.

I'm not sure what OF we have that would even begin the talks. A great pitcher plus another good pitcher (both young and under control for multiple years) for a decent pitcher, a not-so-great SS with a ton of baggage, and the unknown OF wouldn't be in the top 5 offers for the Mets.

I would think you’d have to start a package with Happ and Almora. From there I would think a Montgomery and/or prospects. I’m not saying it’ll get a deal done, but it’s a start.

We’ve been loosely linked to him already. Would think the next ~20 days leading up to Christmas we’ll see a lot of moves starting to be made as outside of last year that seems to typically be the window for most of the major signings to take place from around Thanksgiving to up to Christmas.
