The one that bugs me the most is all the whining about the schedule.

i think there's a legitimate problem however, in the long run, for the cubs having so many early season games canceled because of weather and playing them all at the end of the season.

 

this also applies to all teams in cold weather areas without domes

 

Well, yeah; the problem is more the pile up of lingering injuries and guys slumping/under-performing. A normal 2018 Cubs team isn't struggling to put a lineup out there every day that isn't half black holes, making it harder to get guys more time off regardless of whether they lost days off. Having 2-3 more off days at the end likely wouldn't have made that much of a difference.

It would’ve helped the bullpen a lot and probably at least one of the position guys (maybe Schwarber and Heyward don’t get hurt, Javy certainly seems like he could use a day, etc) and with some extra off days we probably could’ve gotten an extra Kyle start or two and moved Monty to the pen. Could’ve been enough to snake out an extra win or 2 and that’s all we needed.

Celebrating a 4th consecutive NLCS appearance either back at Wrigley or spraying all over the Miller Park clubhouse would be glorious. Losing to them again would not be any worse than losing to them yesterday.

 

Yeah, I'm oddly confident that if we win tonight we'll be in decent to good shape against the VBs. Pretty much house money at that point.

 

They’ve been doing a lot of things well, but they’ve gotten fairly lucky with their starting pitching over this 8 game stretch. Even against the Tigers they gave up rocket after rocket for outs. That’s not likely to continue. I’ve actually been pretty happy with the Cubs bats since the Tuesday game against the Pirates. Felt Mikolas was giving up hard hit outs as well.

 

But then again, Jon Lester has been giving up some walks and rockets and not many runs have been crossing the plate, so...

More than likely yes, still think rest and getting the 3 days before the NLDS would’ve helped some. But not worth dwelling on the past. Figure it out for ~4 more weeks.

i typed all that out because i pretty much had to describe the joke for it to work and i was too lazy to find the gif, but then i was afraid that he said “this isn’t over” or something and i wanted to get it right, so i had to find the gif just to confirm that i had it right. then i was still too lazy to add it to my post. then i decided my post wasn’t quite funny enough so i went back and spelled jon hamm’s name wrong. and then the hearts started a rolling in.
