My guess would be Russell to the DL. Mix and match in September when rosters expand.

I know others disagree, but Murphy makes perfect sense. I suppose if you actually don't think Addison Russell is crappy, then I can see it. But, yeah, Addison Russell is complete crap.

Murphy was a 5-war 2B last year who was a serviceable defender there. If you squint you can chalk up his poor defense this year to rust and the process of working back from the knee injury. His bat has been fine since July 1 - .336/.379/.514

Very little.

 

People clear waivers way easier than everyone assumes, for whatever reason. Blocking unless you really intend on making a trade seems to be pretty rare, it's an unwritten agreement.

I really don't think people are realizing that the Cubs don't want to keep having to bat Addison Russell this season. It has nothing to do with KB, in my opinion.

 

Also, Daniel Murphy will rank fifth on our team in slugging, even ahead of Rizzo. And way, way ahead of Addison Russell.

 

This is also just purely talking baseball. I don't advocate Daniel Murphy as a person from the public stuff that is known.

Sounds like the Dodgers grabbed Harper off waivers.

 

If they can work out a deal, that's bad news for this offseason if you believe that having 2 months of experience in LA will at all affect his odds of signing with the Cubs.

He's owed something like $4m for the rest of the season, so no team out of the playoff hunt is going to take him. Milwaukee probably isn't going to take another infielder who is also due a good paycheck. He's a platoon player that can't field.
