I'd have to drive 600 miles in 1 day to attend tomorrow's game. Should I do it? Last chance for the Cubs in California until they make the Dodgers their bitch in teh playoffs again.

Since we're playing the Padres, let's check in with Eric Hosmer, who signed an 8 year, $144m contract last offseason with the Padres.

.247/.317/.391, -0.2 fWAR.

Oh dear. Well, good luck Padres.

No one could have ever seen this coming.

No, you should not drive 600 miles to attend a July day game between the Cubs and the Padres in 90-degree heat.

Why would you ever not want to go to San Diego?

In SD for the series right now.. currently 75 and sunny with a high of 77?

It’s 75 here, a couple of blocks from Petco and I’ve had 2 locals apologize for the heat. You must live in inland OC (don’t call it that). The folks who live by the immediate coast in California live a different, cooler life.

I was gonna get snooty about how SD is just a poor man's LA, so I deserve this.

I've been to Anderson's before and the Pea Soup was alright, but I shouldn't have to spend an extra 5 dollars for a little bit of ham and cheese to take it from edible to pretty good.

I've decided against going tomorrow... Just too long of a drive for the day and making it back through LA in the afternoon sounds like my idea of hell.

More like 75 degrees. I am driving 60 miles and think that is too far.

This reminds me of when my brother and I were on vacation a few years ago in late-November or early-December. We drove through a blizzard when we were leaving Illinois. And we were wearing shorts the next day in North Carolina because it was in like the low 60s. We had several locals comment how crazy we were and wondered how cold we must be.

I travel a lot and everywhere I go, the locals apologize for the weather, and I always laugh, tell them I'm from Illinois, and that the weather is still better here than there. And it always is.
