This is a pretty incredible series of events:

- The Yankees are winning 11-0, and Austin Romine had a pitch come way up and in, not sure if there was intent or not

- CC Sabathia is a few outs away from reaching an IP threshold that guarantees him 500k

- Sabathia unmistakably throws at and hits Jesus Sucre

- Sabathia is tossed, yells 'that's for you, bitch' at the Rays dugout, and walks off

- Sabathia remains short of his 500k bonus

Sabathia had hit a Ray player in the bottom of the 5th (almost certainly not intentional since it glanced off the back of the guys hand.

Because the Romine pitch was the first one in the top of the 6th, I’m going to lean towards that being intentional.

Also, it would have been funnier if CC had gotten through 7 (he was only at 55 pitches when he got tossed) and then plunked the first batter in the 8th just so he got his bonus.

Jake's ERA for the season just went north of 4.00. Still the right move to let him walk, and over the life of each contract I still think Yu will be the better signing. (edit: he ended the game/season at 3.96)

Looking at his contract there is some pretty interesting scenarios depending on how his 2019 (age 33) goes. He'll be signed for 2020 at 20 million. But he has an opt out, however the Phillies can void that opt out if they pick up '21 & '22 at 20 million each.

Anybody want to get real annoyed? So I was thinking to myself that it seems like the Brewers starters haven't gone long very much lately. So I looked at the box scores for every September game for them. Their starters have pitched a combined 2 2/3 innings past the 5th inning this month.

Sept. 4 - Miley went 6

Sept. 8 - Gio went 5 2/3

Sept. 19 - Gio went 6

Dodgers appear to have set up their rotation for the division series since Kershaw is going Saturday and Burhler on Sunday. Which means if they have to try through Sunday, neither of them would be able to start the WC game on Tuesday.

I think that's been like this the whole year, hasn't it?

Wildcard games are increasingly bullpen games anyway.

I know they just scored 3 runs but man that Tigers lineup is atrocious. They have like 4 hitters in their order with OPS in the .550-.650 range and all at least 100 games played

Note that this is the 3rd place team in that division.

Look, it’s Clayton Kershaw giving up runs in a big game.

He’s given up 2 hits to Pence today which is like giving up two hits to anyone in the Tigers lineup today except Castellanos.
