I get crazy fired up during games (and pay close attention to the VBs because they're closest) but am usually able to shake off a bad loss quickly. This year has also felt a bit strange in that what I thought was going to be our biggest weapon (starting pitching) has disappointed so we're always playing catch-up.

The reason it is easier to shake things off is because the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. It's weird, I might even be more fired up during games than previously but am able to move on, win or lose, more easily. We got the mother of sports championships, full stop. It's still ok to watch out for the VBs.

man, i was just thinking that between getting to see the bulls dynasty (and at the age i saw it at) and then seeing the cubs win that world series and the way they did it, i am pretty horsefeathering well set for life as far as sports fan stuff goes.

The world series win really sucked a lot of the care out of sports for me in general, nothing will ever touch it.

I want to do it again and again. Oh and again.

As desperately? Obviously not. But I wouldn’t say it took any care out. It just got rid of the fear of never seeing it.

oh yeah, i didnt necessarily mean the cubs even though its true to an extent. im talking like basketball and football etc ... nothing that ever happens in either of those sports could ever approach 2016

Yeah, '16 took the edge off for me too, but the challenge of sustainability beckons. I've lost the thread/feeling this team will be a "super team" but they don't need to be to win the division consistently going forward. Still, I'd be lying if I didn't think after '16 it was possible.

I've found I've enjoyed the wins just as much and while he losses still bug me, they don't bother me nearly as much (outside of blowing late leads or like when we got swept by the Cards earlier this year).

But I was still stressed as hell during that Nats series last year nearly as much as I was the year before. It might have been the way we went down but the Dodger series wasn't as painful. Definitely not as much as the 2015 Mets series was. A tough 7 game loss like the Dodgers had in the World Series probably would have hurt though. But yeah, winning a second wouldn't be nearly as memorable as the first, especially since the first had so many playoff highlights and the 3-1 comeback.

I mean, going 97-102-92-94 (on pace) is pretty dominant. Last team to win 100+ in back to back years was the 04-05 Cards (though the Astros will probably do it this year, which is always the comparison). When they hired Theo we all wanted a Red Sox like run and while it took a couple years, that's what we're on right now. They won 90+ his first three years, then 86, then 90+ the next three, then 89 and 90.

I do understand what you're saying though. Watching the Astros roll to another 100 win season after the season we had last year is a bit frustrating.

Sucks that we spent Monday and Tuesday adding 1.5 games to our lead and then Wednesday and Thursday losing 1.5 games (if the Brewers score holds)

Said differently, it was another week where the Brewers didn't gain ground with 7 weeks remaining.

Knebel with another solid outing. Went walk, walk, walk (against 7-8-9) and infield single before getting yanked.

Soria came in, got Hosmer to pop out and gave up a grand slam to Renfroe.

Knebel’s ERA up to 4.79 now.

Soria also got taken out mid batter which is never a good sign (didn’t see what, if anything, happened).

He had some sort of injury and walked off with a trainer. I think he didn’t get warmed up fast enough but Counsell brought him in anyways because Knebel was so bad.
