Also apparently Pham is unhappy with the amount the Cardinals decided to pay him in his last year before arbitration

Well, Tommy, maybe if you weren't hot garbage until you turned 29 you would've earned more money based on your performance history, ya dingus.

Or the Cardinals could be less cheap with pre-arb players (like the Cubs).

The Cardinals are being cheap and trying to pat themselves on the back for being generous.

Zach Davies had an oblique injury and may miss the start of the year, that means 3 of Wade Miley, Junior Guerra, Yovanni Gallardo, Brandon Woodruff or Brent Suter will be in the Brewers rotation to start the year. VAUNTED DEPTH.

I'm convinced they're gonna sign 1 of the 3 remaining SP (Arrieta, Cobb and Lynn) on the market once the price drops down far enough. My guess is Cobb in like a week or so. Some starting pitchers are going to go down, and demand will increase.

Still, it's a dangerous game these FA pitchers are playing.

Ryan Braun said Saturday he's "not remotely comfortable" at first base yet.

Braun played left field, his natural position, in Saturday's Cactus League game, and the veteran has been splitting time at both positions thus far in camp. The team has a glut of starting-caliber outfielders with the recent acquisitions of Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain to go with 2017 breakout star Domingo Santana and Braun, so the team is hoping Braun can get comfortable enough at first base to share time with Eric Thames this year. The situation makes all three players -- Braun, Santana and Thames -- somewhat uncomfortable to draft this spring given the uncertainty, but in a perfect world the logjam will work itself out. It's a situation worth monitoring as we near Opening Day.

to be fair they didn't ask him how comfortable he feels in LF which would probably be "definitely not remotely comfortable"

Right. That article referred to left field as his “natural position” and I almost shot Diet Coke out my nose laughing.

Tommy Pham's eventual flameout is gonna make Carlos Gomez look like Sean Casey.

So you don’t think last year’s .368 babip is sustainable?

Eh, based on the Cards propensity for giving undeserved deals to pre-arb guys, I can understand him being a little ticked after 6 WAR season. Especially at the same time they just gave Dejong and his 30% K rate a big deal.

Also, if I was a Cards fan, I'd be much more concerned about him going blind again than I would be his BABIP.

I had to double check and make sure the Brewers beat writer didn’t accidentally copy and paste the Reds starting rotation instead of the Brewers

Suarez got the contract I'm thinking Russell should take

Since Russell will hit FA quite a bit younger, and since he received a $2.6M signing bonus, there isn't quite the same urgency for him to jump. And based on the year he had last year, I don't think there's quite the same urgency for the Cubs to offer him such an extension. Now, if he has a 4WAR season this year, the Cubs calculus might change, but Russell's is less likely to sign if he thinks he can sustain it.

$2.6M doesn’t go very far with all the child support payments he has.
