I’d agree this is to get Darvish (or maybe Cobb) to move but if Jake wants to do the Dexter 2 year deal with a opt out after this year, like 2/42 with 19ish this year and a $6 mil buyout, I’d be cool with that.

i know this isn't the dexter deal you were referring to but man this just made me think of how dexter surprised re-upped with us in 16 and how horsefeathering cool that was

16 was so amazing but that’s still a top 5-7 moment for me easily

Not only did that, but did that then hit a leadoff homer in game 7 of the world series and made himself a lot more money in the process. Literally everybody won (except the orioles lol horsefeathers them)

Edit: Oh yeah and the contract he got will be something of an albatross to our division rivals as he ages.

Which reminds me I haven't watched game 7 yet in 2018.

So why is this thread title still a thing?

Did he retroactively not go to Seattle or something?

I'mma be honest, I thought Derwood was gonna come in here and be like, "Dexter was on the 2015 team?"

It’s a misleading title in a transactions thread.

$20 says Derwood has been tricked at least 3 times seeing this thread bumped and thinking he is signing with the Mariners

Nigthengale says we’d be comfortable going 4 years about $110 for Jake. FWIW. Doubt it’s true since Nightengale is a buffoon but $27.5 aav is tough to swallow, though the 4 years is nice.

Game 7, the last good thing that happened.

I just went back and watched the highlights from Cubs/Nats game 5 thinking maybe we had one good night, and jesus, what a disaster of a game that was. The biggest highlight was Davis K'ing Bryce to end it, but even that as this point doesn't do a whole lot with Davis off to Colorado and Harper a year away from taking over right field at Wrigley.

Derwood is one of those people getting into arguments in FB/article comments after reading only the click bait headline

So apparently arrietas most interested suitors right now are the cardinals and cubs

I wasn't one of the people who hated him but I really don't want him back

Considering who the rumored teams are that are serious about adding starting pitching, the Cubs honestly are the easy choice. They run the Free Agent market right now.

Watching the 2016 WS thing on MLBN right now and it’s on Game 2 with Jake...... just thinking about resigning him if the offer/our value of Cobb is 3/42 I find it really hard to believe our offer/what we’d go to/what we value him at is 4/110 on Jake. Jake is better than Cobb but I doubt the FO values him at ~$13 mil more a year in AAV over Cobb. I’d guess our offer is more like 3/65-70 or 4/85-90 to Jake at the max.

Didn't Caritini hit some minor league pitcher in the head last year or the year before with a comebacker and he had to have emergency surgery or something?
