I never watch the Winter Olympics outside of hockey. I can see why it appeals to the general public but its not for me. For whatever reason, the Summer Olympics appeal a lot more to me. With no pros playing in the hockey events I'm not sure I'll even watch hockey.

Why doesn't Target sponsor the curling events?

 

Olympic hockey will be better/ more fun with the NHL players since now it will give countries that aren't Canada a legit shot at winning the gold medal.

Why doesn't Target sponsor the curling events?

Snowboard cross (obviously the same thing minus the apparatus) seemed like a ludicrous idea when they started it but is consistently my favorite event now.

They've won the last 2, and 3 of the last 4. They also won the world cup of hockey. They'd be a lock to win the Gold medal again if they were playing.

I get that the athletes can still compete under an Olympic Flag, and will get the Olympic theme song played if they win gold, but all they'll talk about in the broadcasts is them being from Russia. In other words, unless these athletes are uber-patriotic about playing for Mother Russia, who cares?

The article I read implied only a small percentage of Russian athletes are eligible to compete as neutrals, they need a pretty extensive history of clean drug tests to be able to get the waiver.

Do they still do the luge where at any second somebody could get killed? I agree the winter Olympics are better for watching and the sports are just way cooler. The biathlon is awesome.
