The NHL has to be rooting hard for Vegas to win it all, because there are some dreadful (for ratings) potential matchups for the finals (Tampa Bay vs. Winnipeg? lol)

I think having a Canadian team would boost ratings up north. I dont think Vegas is moving the ratings that much in the US

A first year expansion team possibly winning the Cup? It's about all they have in terms of storylines (unless you think Ovechkin potentially winning it all moves the needle)

My thoughts too. Canadians are probably more hungry for a SC then all of the southern 1/2 of the US at this point. There will be those who are excited that a Canadian team is in it and those who would relish in a Jets loss, like everyone in Vancouver. Either way, lots of eyes watching that series.

Tampa Bay vs. Winnepeg would be the best match up from an exciting hockey standpoint. Only hardcore hockey fans watch the Stanley Cup finals anyway so I don't see where it matters.

Well I'm glad I was wrong about the Penguins. Winnipeg in the SCF would be good for ratings in Canada. I'm sure the worst would be Nashville-Tampa

Vegas in the finals is incredibly annoying

Why?

Because I'm a fan of a team that has played 19 seasons without ever getting out of the first round, and Vegas could win the cup on their first try.

Life isn't fair. I will laugh my ass off at Blues fans should Vegas win the Cup. 0 Cups in 50 years

Gotcha. When the Marlins and Diamondbacks had won the World Series while I was still waiting for the Cubs to break through, I had a similar annoyed feeling.

Vegas could very well be the Marlins of the NHL if they win early and then blow it up. The fans are really into them right now for all the obvious reasons, but will they get any fan support once the newness wears off, especially when they hit the inevitable decline in success

Why would Vegas need to blow it up? They have 24 million in projected cap space next year.

They wouldn’t have to blow it up. They could just not be as good

I think they got real lucky, a lot of guys had career years and were injury free. Kinda remind me of the 2005 White Sox.

Game 7 should be fun on Wednesday.

Go Caps. Would be cool for Ovi to get a cup but also LV because it would surely annoy blues fans lol.

Oddly, there's a lot of Blues fans rooting for them and hoping their success will force the Blues to "do something". What that is, I have no idea, but they seem to think it'll force some kind of action.

I think Las Vegas is a fluke of flukes. Several players playing way higher than career norms. Pacific division being trash. Western Conference as a whole not having any elite teams.

But, winning the Stanley Cup is extremely hard....just ask Canada
