In his defense the last two games may have been the only times all year Price has had his SP not be pulled before the 6th inning. Maybe he thought it's an automatic win if your SP pitches 7 innings?

Stupid Brewers broadcasters just got really excited for a routine flyout to LF

You must have never seen a Brewers/Brian Anderson broadcast before. Living in Wisconsin I watch them a good amount, Brian Anderson's ability to judge a flyball is laughable

I've watched a bunch but they're usually on mute since I have the Cubs on the TV. I went to high school and played baseball with Jeff Levering so I tend to only listen to their guys when he's calling the action.

Blue Jays and Red Sox are tied 2-2 in the 16th inning. Toronto gave up 2 in the bottom of the ninth. When Bruce Bochy sees the box score he's going to wonder how Toronto only used 6 pitchers to get through 15 innings.

Ariel Miranda has a no-hitter through 6 against Houston. Game is tied 1-1 because in the third inning he walked three batters (he's got six total) and gave up a sac fly.

Donaldson got ejected in the 18th in the middle of the at bat, arguing a strike call. Montero came in for him so it'll be interesting to see who plays third.

The Mariners bullpen blew the no-hitter and tie game in the 7th.

The Vaunted Cardinals have picked up 3 games on the Cubs the last 3 days. Should I be worried the Cubs don't finish with a double digit lead on them at season's end?

Reds tie the VB at 1. This kid Castillo for the Reds is going to be so good for them, unfortunately they have to fill the rest of the rotation with guys like wojiechewskies or whatever.

Geez, the Cardinals schedule is pretty light

Already played:

4 @ SF (3-1)

2 @ SD (2-0)

Upcoming

2 @ SD

3 vs. PIT

3 vs. CIN

3 @ CHC

3 @ CIN

3 @ PIT

4 vs. CHC

3 vs. MIL

I dont think they will catch us but they may make us sweat to the end if we continue slacking.

So is ours. The main difference is they have 4 less against Milwaukee. Plus they have a heavy dose of Reds and Pirates. But, it's not like our 2 vs. the Rays and 3 vs. the Mets are a huge swing. Also, they are 4 back.

Just take care of business and we got this.

Yeah pretty much. We just have to avoid sweeps or winning 1 or 2 of 7 vs the VBs and Cardinals.

Plus, I'm not positive playing the Brewers is any harder than playing the Pirates at this point. The Brewers are about to be swept by the Reds and go to 22-27 in the 2nd half. And their offense is putrid.

We're lined up to face their top 3 this weekend, which certainly makes it more difficult. But it's not like the Cards are that much better than the Pirates. They don't have a cake walk. They could lose series to any of these teams, including the Reds, as the Brewers are seeing right now.

I think the 7 against Milwaukee and St Louis are actually a major advantage to us. It's very difficult to win 5 of 7 from a team. If that happens, sure we will be in some trouble, but most likely one of the teams goes 4-3 and the Cubs either gain a game or lose a game while burning almost 30% of the remaining schedule.

Baseball is a crazy spot. One week you are going 5-2 against the Dodgers and Nationals, the next you are in the process of being swept by the Reds.

Yeah, the head-to-head games are the big things in the back pockets of the Brewers and Cardinals. Those are what are keeping them alive more than anything. But if they don't fare so hot in those series, the outlook is bleak.

The thing that pisses me off more than anything is letting the Cards back in it, though. Which, kudos to them for winning some games when it looked like they were dead. I'm not a fan of those series meaning something, though. When it started looking like it would come down to us or Milwaukee, I felt very confident.
