Oh please lord not Glennon.

As a backup, maybe.

Also, Josh Gordon is in play and i believe could play week 1. Why not?

Glennon is going to get pretty big money from someone. I think I've seen 12-15 mill per from guys estimating his salary.

The Bears certainly have the cap space and it could technically buy us another year before taking a QB early in the draft(or even allow us to see if a guy drops close to our 2nd rounder....

But, he'd likely have a huge cap hit, if you cut him after a year too. So, I don't know what to think.....

I'm honestly not sold he'll suck. I'm just not sold he's really deserving of a starters gig and THAT money either.

Is he really that different from Hoyer?

One year deal with no guarantees? Not that risky.

You only get 53 roster spots, so I think that the lost opportunity cost is a real risk. In April, you can "replace" him with a legitimate vet FA. In October, you're calling up some UDFA from the practice squad.

what's the point of a one year low risk deal?

if you are a good team you consider that risk for the hope it gives you now. But if you are looking for longterm help like the Bears, why sign a guy who, best case scenario he performs well and isn't suspended this year, you are just going to have to make another risk decision next season.

The optics of letting Cutler and Alshon go and signing Gordon are also iffy.

And an average 6th receiver on any NFL team and the top practice squad receiver in the league is dramatically undramatic.

Or give him a 3 year deal with roster bonuses in years 2 and 3 and minimal cap hit for cutting him.

That makes a hell of a lot more sense for a good team with a solid chance at the playoffs looking to take a chance on a guy.

Not the Bears.

So you're thought is youre bringing him to camp to compete against Braverman or something? If that's the case, okay.

I rather have Hoyer for like 1yr/5-6 mil than whatever Glennon is going to get.

I think Hoyer's deal will be closer to 10 than to 5, FWIW. Still a less risky bet than Glennon as I'm guessing his years and guaranteed will be higher.

Glennon could be an option only if Hoyer signs elsewhere as well.

Kind of a weird way to look at it. He's competing with everyone not named Meredith and White.

if mike glennon at 12-15M/yr is this team's QB plan that might be the end of it for me

I would put sticks of dynamite in my pants.

Then I'd rather bring in competition likely to make it through a whole season.

But no matter what you bring in, there is always a risk.

I'd be good with Victor Cruz.

Trubiski ended up measuring 6'2.25. While it isn't anything special, it isn't the 6'1 that Mayock heard rumblings of. So that's good. I'm still on the Adams train though.
