I'd rather listen to Joe Buck than Barstool.

Joe Buck has been fine.

Smoltz is rather dumb though.

Buck is fine calling game action...I don't like his thoughts as he fills space though.

I've enjoyed Smoltz quite a bit outside of his Lester/running game analysis/obsession.

He's been obsessed with and repeatedly wrong on the running stuff as well as just a whole bunch of other stuff. And he often just says pointless nonsense.

The Argument for Starting David Ross in Game 7

Considering this is an AL game I'd probably play it like this:

- Start Montero, he has a better shot of hitting Kluber and you don't lose much defensively compared to Contreras(less arm, more framing)

- When the catcher's spot comes up against Miller or whenever Lester comes into the game(whichever comes first), insert Ross. He's already seen Miller once and gave him a good at bat, and naturally he's well equipped to catch Lester

- If needed, pinch hit Contreras for Ross against Allen. By that time we should be to Chapman's portion of the game so the consideration is getting runs if you need them.

That said, using 3 catchers for 9 innings is pretty unorthodox. Considering that Baez and Heyward are likely starting for mostly defensive purposes though, I don't know if you want to forfeit another lineup spot against Kluber by starting Ross.

At this point I'm not sure how much more we are forfeiting offensively with Ross than with Contreras, the way he has been swinging the bat. I trust Joe to make the right call, though, so if he runs Willson out there then I'm on board.

This is the 3rd time seeing Kluber, the third time is always the charm! The Indians asses are tighter than 1 inch sewer line. The Cubs are smooth and silky.

The Cubs will win.

The key is getting to him early. I think Francona is going to prepare him as if he is going 4-5 innings no matter what. He will tell him there is no need to preserve his arm for an 8 inning start, there is no need to hold anything back in early ABs so he can bring it out the 3rd time around the order. Treat the game as if he was coming out of the pen and let it rip. But I think scoring off Kluber is still going to be our best shot. Miller, Allen and Shaw should all be quite sharp, so he could easily get 4-5 strong innings out of them.

The most likely outcome if the Cubs win is the Cubs getting 3 runs off of Kluber and then 1-2 off of the pen, while our pitching does enough to preserve the win.

I'm nervous/excited, obviously, but oddly less nervous than I was yesterday.

i am so unbelievably nervous that there's some part of me that wishes i could not watch the game or something.

like my body is physically wanting to reject watching the game.

There have been multiple times this playoffs where I wanted to quit sports because it doesn't feel worth it to care so much. This game is the worst. I was awake forever last night and for what? But this is my addiction and I want it soooooooo bad.

I wasn't thinking that deeply or bigly. The Cubs are going to be like Lenny Dykstra looking at Steve Carleton, "horsefeathers I'll stick him." and they will.

I like how when the Chapman trade happened, it was panned by most. And the only justification for it was "If you get to Game 7 of the World Series, you want him on the mound in the 9th inning." In reality, you have no idea how it will play out, or if you'll even need him, or if he'll even matter. And then Strop and Rondon get hurt and turn into suck. And then Game 5 happens. And now, here we are at Game 7 of the World Series. Gleyber can kiss my ass.

Like the Schwarber thing. Looked like the Cubs had an embarrassment of riches, but baseball, between injuries and slumps, can make that turn on a dime.

And who'da thunk that four games at the AL park could be a GOOD thing? Gosh I love Schwarber in the lineup.

Barstool Live will be live the entire game I have found that when those guys are on its just easy to mute the tv broadcast and listen to them ...makes it a little easier to watch the game

Smoltz is rather dumb though.

Smoltz just cant get out of his own way. Last night he was in the third inning like "the cubs offense is firing right now because of schwarber who really lengthens the lineup!" except schwarber saw all of one pitch in the three-run first inning.

then he was like "there's no one in the bullpen so it looks like the cubs are sticking with chapman" as the camera showed two guys getting up in the cubs bullpen.

I'm just playing out different scenarios for the way this game can go in my head.

How crazy and awesome would it be of this game is just a absolute coronation of the Cubs? Schwarber, Rizzo, Bryant.. What if they all dong in the first couple innings. I'm practically swooning just thinking of it.

On the other hand any situation where we go down early has me wanting to curl up in the fetal position.

Today I am the worstest of the worst. I'm too nervous and excited for tonight, and I didn't get to bed until like 1:00am last night because of watch partying.

I mean, I'd feel much better if we had the lead then, but Cleveland's relievers are human and we can come back if we're down a run or two. Just takes one or two mistakes from them.

As AJ Moye said about Duke Basketball in 2002:

“It’s not like we’re playing Jesus Christ and the 12 disciples. They put their shorts on the same way as I do … one leg at a time.’’

My prediction for tonight is first team to 4 runs wins.

People love to talk up how scary Kluber > Miller > Allen is.

Is it really any scarier than Kershaw > Jansen was?

The Cubs can do this.

I had a feeling we would come back from 3-1 down to win the series before game 4 and I have a feeling we will come to beat the indians bullpen tonight.

Yes only because Kluber Miller and Allen can likely cover more innings than Kershaw and Jansen. Like for instance if the Dodgers had Andrew Miller, he could have come in early in Game 6 when the score was still 2-0, pitched 3 innings and turned it over to Shaw for a couple of innings, then Allen. The Dodgers didn't really have anyone else in the pen that could put the fear of God into you besides Jansen.

One more RD blowout Win for this Cubs team please!!!!

My apologies - what does RD stand for? After seeing it in other posts, I don't think it means what I thought it meant.

Am i rationalizing if I say that it seems like the Cubs have actually made some solid contact against Miller, they were just right at people?

Game 7 predictions: Chapman ends up starting the game. Maddon cuts the crotch out of his pants and wears a shirt that says "Do something about it!" Chapman pitches 5 perfect innings, Cubs take a 10-0 lead. Maddon then lets Hendricks finish the game, Chapman moves to LF and hits a home run. Cubs win 20-1. Indians score their 1 run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, Napoli grounds it back to Hendricks, who chases him around the bases barking at him. Hendricks later explains he just wanted them to know that everything they have, they only have because he allows it.

Wait, so Fred never got to start a game thread?

Yes, he started games 2 & 3.

BTW, how break-proof is the board tonight? You back home now?
