Lester always seemed a tad unlikable (to me at least) but he's pretty much negated that between his awesome pitching and the stuff he's said tonight in his interviews has been cool as hell. Now he's coming across as pretty bad ass to me.

I never understood the "unlikable" deal with Lester. He's a red ass on the mound but ultra-competitive and he's not Lackey bitching at everyone. By all accounts he's a good teammate and pretty laid back guy when he's not pitching.

Yeah, the difference is Lester doesn't get visibly pissed whenever his teammates make even the smallest mistake.

I'm guessing Lester would be available in the pen in game 7. Lets get there.

Yeah, if we get there, he'd bridge Kyle to Chapman.

I hated seeing Chapman having to pitch 2+. The only reason it happened was b/c the team had their backs against the wall and a narrow lead to protect.

I also hated seeing Chapman bat, but I was glad he ended the 8th b/c I hated the thought of him hanging around on the bases in the cold even more. And I *really* would have been pissed if Maddon had put in Coghlan as a pinch runner. That would probably have been a waste of two very good Cub pitcher outings.

Short rest for both their guys. Bullpens are fresh. Even McHorseteeth should be available. Schwarber helps the offense a ton. The pressure is on Cleveland now.

I'd start Ross over Willy too. As horrible as Javy looks at the plate, I'd stick with him. His D means more than Coghlan or Soler AB's do.

I loved it actually. Now that thought of Chapman coming in at any point is just something else they've got to think about. Could indirectly help Jake or Kyle out, by hitters being overaggressive and keeping the PC down.

Yeah, instead of Fox showing Andrew Miller picking his nose in the bullpen every 30 seconds from the second inning on, they are going to be showing Chapman now.

Totally agree.

game 7 too

Yeah I think I'd ride him out. Contreras could chill out at the plate but right now I'm more comfortable with Rossy.

He's earned it, too. Been one heck of a leader this year.

Ross will have suited up for the last time as a player on Tuesday or Wednesday, and Contreras's AB have been only marginally better than Baez's in this series. The Cubs have little to lose with starting Ross as catcher, and potentially much to gain. Plus, I'd rather see Contreras PH than Ross if the Cubs find themselves behind in a close game.

oh and anthony rizzo hit a foul ball onto a horsefeathering rooftop holy horsefeathers!

How many foul ball "home runs" has Rizzo hit this postseason? Seem like a lot. That one last night was prodigious.

We need to start tomorrow's game thread now. Its going to be a win. No one will be at Wrigley for the game. It can get to 100 pages of dong-filled glory.

Doom boners not welcome.

Lineup prediction for Tuesday:

Fowler- CF

Bryant- 3B

Rizzo- 1B

Zobrist- LF

Schwarber- DH

Russell- SS

Heyward- RF

Contreras- C

Baez- 2B

Go with your best defensive lineup and your best hitters at each position. These guys got you to the dance. Now's not the time to tinker with Chris Coghlan.
