The team that has a history of doing stuff like this against the team with the history of choking....doesn't make me feel too positive right now.

Giants will have all the momentum and nothing to lose. But the Cubs have a lot of veterans on this team that have been here before and can steady the team hopefully

Giants had all the momentum going into game 1 too and it did horsefeathers all. If we don't come back tonight, we'll still have a massive advantage against Matt Moore tomorrow, and then I'll still take Lester over Cueto if it gets to that. This has been a confusing, frustrating game, but bullpens are going to bullpen, no matter how supposedly unhittable some pieces of garbage are advertised as being. Offense will hit, and we will be fine.

First off, we're still up 2-1 in the series if we lose.

Second off, we have Lackey and Lester going the next two games and the offense isn't going to sleep forever.

Third off, we have veterans and Joe Maddon on this team to keep everyone from slipping into the 'Oh my god, we're doomed' mindset.

And finally, if the worst case scenario comes to pass and we lose the series, I would suggest not letting a sports team, whose performance is beyond anyone's control, have significant sway over your emotional well-being.

Get ahold of yourself, guys.

This is a remarkable post from the least likely poster to write it

Agree with all points except this one. We've seen it happen.

There's no such horsefeathering thing as horsefeathering momentum you horsefeathering horsefeathers.

On the plus side, I think the pitchers the Giants entrust to pitch the late innings are worse than the guys in the middle innings.

It's different when we are talking about elimination games. The Giants have the even year mystique, the 9-0 in elimination games etc. none of that mattered to the Cubs but now the Giants have to be slightly in the Cubs heads. The Giants have nothing to lose...they don't have the 108 year drought or the 103 win season or the 7 all stars.

I don't know how much psyche matters or how much it matters to this team but I guess we will find out

Who stole Ski's password

I'm nothing if not mercurial.

And I really don't like letting a ton of negativity stew in my stomach.

The universe is funny. Likelihoods do not imply certainties. And there's no particular reason we've had a century of futility, just as there's no reason Chapman blew up this inning, just as there's no reason the Cubs failed to score after the second. It just happened and making a narrative out of it is stupid.

There's no such [expletive] thing as [expletive] momentum you [expletive] horsefeathers.
